Re: The Politics Thread
Perhaps we can play a game of "What are we going to spend the £350M on?".
My guess is propping up public/private contracts that were intrinsically linked to the EU.
Anyone else?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Well, I assume we aren't going to stop funding all the regional development projects the EU funds. That's a fair chunk there at least.Lord Kangana wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2017 9:12 amPerhaps we can play a game of "What are we going to spend the £350M on?".

"The EU funds"?
Where is the magic tree this money fell from into the EU coffers?

Re: The Politics Thread
Had to laugh at this.
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/do ... 21051.html
Apparently it was all "empty threats" from Obama.
Now we're at the back of a queue for a deal with the USA. I mean it isn't rocket science, our trade value is far less than the total EU.
However, the idea that we were better off on our own, is beginning to be severely tested, when even our supposed "special friends" are more interested in the EU than us.

Especially that last sentence. We're still 2 years from leaving, one can hardly judge whether we'll be better off or not at this stage:
1) We're not even allowed to make a trade agreement with anyone else until after we leave. Why shouldn't the US be speaking to the EU in the meanwhile?
2) The trade deal with the EU SHOULD be seen as a higher priority. It's going to be a lot harder for them to come to an agreement when it requires all the member states (don't forget that Belgium town) to agree to it.
3) If it turns out not to be as complicated as first thought then GREAT! Any trade agreement that the US makes with the EU during this time will make it easier for ours. I would imagine that our trade agreement with the US won't be radically different to what they agree with the EU.

The EU does not interfere in Nation States electionsEurope’s political establishment also rushed to back Mr Macron yesterday, arguing that it had “no choice” but to support the centrist Europhile over a candidate hell-bent on the bloc’s destruction.
Putting aside convention, Jean-Claude Juncker, the European Commission president, announced support for Mr Macron against Ms Le Pen.
The EU’s open support for Mr Macron, which contrasted with its efforts not to intervene publicly in last year’s Brexit referendum, was echoed in Berlin, Rome and Madrid.
Shitting it more like!

Might be slightly different when there's an actual fascist involved...

Re: The Politics Thread
The BBC say this today....
But once again I find it unbelievable to an absolutely insane degree, that May the liar can run on a mandate of being the "only party willing to deliver Brexit" when she herself campaigned against it. It is absolutely nonsensical. Just how is our media allowing her to get away with that, I will never, ever know.
As did Mrs May. But it seems even the BBC aren't willing to point that out. Definite BBC government bias on display recently. Probably down to worries about its own future. Which is a shame.Ahead of a campaign visit to Wales on Tuesday, Theresa May said the Brexit vote should have been a "wake-up call for a generation of politicians who have taken the people for granted for too long", but instead other parties had "closed ranks".
The Conservatives are hoping to take seats from Labour on 8 June in areas which voted to leave the EU, including the Midlands, the north-east and north-west of England and across Wales.
Most Labour MPs backed Remain vote in last year's referendum.

Agree with some of this.
This part stood out, and again simply comes across as a total farce...

When Miliband proposed an energy price cap (in 2015), the criticism was vicious. Most newspapers parroted the Conservative line – that such a policy was dangerous, anti-business leftist extremism. The Daily Mail carried the headline “back to the bad old days” and claimed “Red Ed revives 70s socialism”. A mere two years later, May has stolen the policy. The Mail’s coverage this time round is ludicrously contradictory. “Crackdown on energy rip-offs” the front page announced. “Mrs May is set to announce a cap on soaring bills”.
Re: The Politics Thread
So you think that's okay because they have decided there is a fascist involved? Nothing to do with rather a lot of people voting for them or are we fast approaching the stage were the EU vets and appoints candidates in 'Nation States', because that will be the next route they take.
Vote Joe blogs, EU approved!
Some people really cannot see the wood for the trees.
Had they done that in the case of Breixt leave would have had 10% more voters, at least, so Le Penn may do okay out of this

Fair play to whoever it is who's going to come up with this monumental plan and then execute it in under 2 years.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2017 7:21 pmI'm fairly sure we were told it'd all be sorted in 2 years - so quit fcking about already and deliver on it.
I'd say appoint some expert help, but hey that'd be against everything they stand for, wouldn't it?

Are you saying you preferred it that United won that year?
