Who was it (REM or somebody) who used to get lyrics from Yellow Pages or somewhere like that?

Are you not thinking of where Chris Martin got the name for 'Yellow' from? Needed a two syllable word to fit and saw his Yellow pages. Don't THINK I've made that up?

A lot of bands used to use the 'cut and paste' method (Bowie was a big exponent once) where you chop up words from a newspaper then piece 'em together in a different order.
I write words for a living. I play records for a living. Both of these thing should tell you that I'm a failed musician.

Didn't William Burroughs used to write whole novels like that?

And everyone thought he was a genius.

Apparently.

A few years ago the Sunday Times gave away a free Bjork CD. The week after in Letters to the Editor some knobber had written quite a lengthy letter thanking them for the CD and going to great lengths to describe how it was a wonderful use of atmospherics and how she should be praised for pushing the musical boundaries.

Underneath it was another letter that read simply:

For Sale: Bjork CD

Played once!
May the bridges I burn light your way

Just got my hands on a very large set of second hand cymbals. As I don't play the drums, I'm looking to sell.

Any takers?
Bdum-tish!

Happy to contribute gob-trumpet and kazoo to the T-W band.

That was until they tread the first ten pages of Naked Lunch and put it away for ever...

I'm told that pages 11-458 were cut up from classier material... man city programmes, abramovich's cheques, the wit and wisdom of Rafa da Man...

Is he any relation to Edgar Rice? If he is, what with Tarzan and John Carter on Mars, well, sort of explains it.

It's not. Unlike Mooro, Simon Cowell hasn't spent this morning discussing with Gus Poyet the best way to build a snowman.
