Its been a Macmillan coffee morning at work today as well so the soup combined with a ton of cakes is going to make for interesting times later on!
but I like spicy butternut squash soup as well.
I may not be Tango's dfinition of a working man, tho...
It was a thoroughly manly soup, couldnt feel my tongue for an hour afterwards!

Butternut squash soup is luvvly - as long as you don't over spice it. I roast a whole squash then use half for a risotto and the other half for soup with some red lentils and a noblet of Thai red curry paste. Sometimes I'll chuck a tamarind stock cube in for the sheer hell of it.
But then again I'm scoffing Tunnock's caramel wafers again tonight, so what the ferk do I know?

Those that know Tunnock's products, LGM, know fine dining . Butternut squash needs spicing up for me as otherwise I find it too sweet.

Too right on both counts (though it must be said the Caramel Logs are minging). I'm now going to wash the third TCW of the day down with a Highland Park and pretend that it's the Trotters in the Stade-Velodrome tonight and that OM are getting a right royal twatting.Bruce Rioja wrote:Those that know Tunnock's products, LGM, know fine dining . Mmmm, splendid choices, Sir. I appear to have been dragged off of the subs bench to keep the resident Gooner up to speed as to how they're getting on. I did of course point out that after 25 minutes we were one up. BTW, bought a 10 year Tobermory whilst up there in summer but haven't opened it yet. Have you engaged?Little Green Man wrote:Too right on both counts (though it must be said the Caramel Logs are minging). The Womble Whisky? Nope. I'm sure it'll be OK though.

Aw okay, I suppose I could use the excuse I'm no longer a working man, or even the fact the wife's away, but I had tomato and butter bean soup for lunch today.Bruce Rioja wrote:Had tomato and paprika soup for lunch missen, followed by a yogurt and a kiwi fruit. Me too. Baxter's or homemade? Was much nicer than I had anticipated, the Baxter's that is.TANGODANCER wrote:Aw okay, I suppose I could use the excuse I'm no longer a working man, or even the fact the wife's away, but I had tomato and butter bean soup for lunch today.Bruce Rioja wrote:Had tomato and paprika soup for lunch missen, followed by a yogurt and a kiwi fruit. T'was a new product from Heinz. Not rave stuff but tasty enough with croutons. Not tried Baxters yet.......but I shall, indeed I shall.Burnden Paddock wrote:Me too. Baxter's or homemade? Soup? Isn't that what you have when you're poorly?

Once had a plate of potato soup with fresh bread rolls,up in Troon. I'd say it was amongst the finest tasting soup I've ever had. Could have shifted a bucket full.boltonboris wrote:Soup? Isn't that what you have when you're poorly?

I had soup for lunch too!
Making something out of chicken breast, fine beans and pitta tonight, with some warm merlot. It's a special recipe to get a win on Saturday, worked last week minus the chicken so it's maybe a little experimental.

Soup's nice but there's nowt to it! It's like half a starter.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Partner out at yoga so i made this split pea and pumpkin soup which has cumin, coriander, tarragon and chilli as its flavourings. It turned into this delicious, spicy, just what you need in winter veggie stew, even with the addition of extra stock...
Ended as a one pot meal for two and some left over for tomorrow.
pudding was pear and strawberry cake n single cream... Mmmm... Partner made...
Had a cup of Lapsang Souchong with it...
