Scones look lovely Bruce. May have a go at making some cheese ones today. They're lovely warm out the oven with a bit of butter...

You're right, Bish. Probably a minute over, but I like stuff that's slightly over anyway. Very chuffed with how they turned out (fluffy inside - nom, nom, nom )thebish wrote:(though - dare I say - ever so slightly over-done??? or is that just the photo?)thebish wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:Had a crack at some fruit scones, I have;

Just been informed we're off there tomorrow.Bijou Bob wrote:Just got in from Sokrates - another excellent do. £220 for 9 of us and we're all stuffed. My only beef is that the house red is a tad dry and lifeless. Another top night and well worth a go IMO.
Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
made a pear & chocolate (with ground almonds) puff-pie today...
it is officially yum - though the kids wouldn't eat it! (middle son: "what's the deal with pears AND chocolate? ")
(served with custard, hot!)

Weirdos. Pears and chocolate have been getting it on together for years.
I'm having Spanish mountain stew. The mountain has been simmering on the hob for a week and is still looking as tough as nails.

Pan fried pheasant breast in marsala with colcannon.
First attempt at both cooking and eating pheasant. Probably a little overcooked, but still enjoyable. Not sure I would use marsala again as it seemed to mask most of the flavour from the pheasant.

mmmm. Or pheasant hasn't anywhere near the level of flavour you may expect.Burnden Paddock wrote:Pan fried pheasant breast in marsala with colcannon.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

That's what I suspected tbh. The sauce was excellent, even if I do say so myself. Will deffo use the marsala with the duck breasts that I have though.bobo the clown wrote:mmmm. Moose this evening. Never had it before so thought I'd give it a go. Was a bit pricey so I have high hopes for it.

I knew that I was inviting trouble when I typed the word breasts. I do hope that you had to google that pic and it wasn't in your 'collection'.thebish wrote:Burnden Paddock wrote:
