Smoked salmon risotto but with orzo, so technically notrisotto. Bloody lush nonetheless.

mmmmmm reminds me - must do that again soon - a cracking dish! (though I used risotto rice - not orzo - I imagine it tastes pretty much the same...)

I feel strange here as I type 'Good piece in the Guardian'. There, I've said it!

Most of the food in those shots looks like something I'd not even feed to a household pet.

I was served this at L'Enclume a year or so back and enjoyed it and thought it went with slate quite well.

If cat sick tasted like that, I'd have a thousand cats by now.... :D

Probably more in line with Wanderer taste. A hotel/beer spa? in the Czech Republic apparently....

At least they left plenty of room on the slate for the pie and chips.

Plus the gravy. A slate would be perfect.

A plate of chips from the school canteen. Simple, but effective!

I find I am making more soups lately...

partly because of my annual glut of bramley cooking apples rotting all over the lawn - I made simple parsnip and apple soup today...

with crusty bread - very nice indeed!! :oyea:

Between the match and the concert at Bridgewater Hall there was just time to fit in tapas at Dmitri on Deansgate in Manchester. This wouldn't normally be my choice but Evuna was booked solid until 10.00pm.

It was great - we had mostly vegetarian options with a couple of whitebait tapas as well. Star tapa was mushrooms in blue cheese sauce. House white nicely chilled, crisp, fragrant. Recommend. :D

A very comforting (on a few fronts) slow-cooked venison stew. Fizzy water would've insulted it, this 2012 Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon most certainly does not. :)
