Nope. I was genuinely searching for the word. Lardons is what I was after, thank you.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Got into cheese in recent years and have expanded out from cheddar to virtually every type that I can found on the shop shelves. A specialist cheese shop opened nearby which has helped.
Anyway, I'd never tried Morbier.p.d.o. and the woman behind the counter was raving about it.
Don't bother. The blue mould stripe through the middle is tasty enough, but just tastes of mould, while the rest is like eating lukewarm wax. Underwhelmed.

No expert on cheese, just know what I like. Mature Cheddar is fine by me and I've almost finished a block of Blue Stilton. One of my favourite dishes is Stilton and mushroom cheese-bake. Love that. Right now, after all the festive stuff we had at my daughters Christmas Day, ( I had a rump steak at home on Boxing Day and grilled Irish recipe sausages with onions last night), I'm looking forward to Hollands steak and kidney pud, chips and butterbeans for tea..

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Just made a hazardous descent to nearest shop to get some provisions in. Bought some cheese, extra matured Gouda. Glorious taste, really nutty. One of my cabin mates has just pointed out that there's some Gouda in the fridge with a Best Before End date of March... the stuff I've just tucked into is over fifteen years old... (and we paid extra for that). BBEs are a joke.

I've served my time and duty to the quaffing of ale and porter esteemably well in times past, and these days imbibe not a lot. Tonight I experienced a yen to visit the garage and extract a couple of vessels of Estrella Damm Barcelona beer. Poured into one of those tall glasses with a map of Australia engraved on it and the Fosters legend in its centre, this has firmly replaced San Miguel as the thirst quencher of choice. Straight from the coldness of the garage (not fridge) they went down smoothly like the nectar they are oft quoted as. A spot of chocolate doughnut to follow and settle down to a film. Splendid.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Being pretty partial to most foods, meat, fish, chicken (but can live without turkey) but certainly none of that weird Vegan stuff Spots encountered lately , I just wondered exactly what vegetables some folk like and dislike? I don't do Brussels (or anywhere else for that matter) sprouts and can't see what folk see in them, (wife's having them for tea tonight, which might have prompted this post) and I'm not totally enamoured by carrots and turnips, although I do eat them. I love boiled potatoes, cabbage I like and also love beetroots, onions (quite happy with raw) spring onions, mushrooms, butter beans, marrowfat peas, peppers, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber. ( of which some are not strictly vegetables of course) Not a great lover of cauliflour except pickled from an onion jar which I love and dont mind gerkin. The rest I can liv e without. (Chuck in boiled eggs and prawns as in salads and there you go.) You?

There is no veg I will not eat. Latest favourite is fennel.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 6:11 pmBeing pretty partial to most foods, meat, fish, chicken (but can live without turkey) but certainly none of that weird Vegan stuff Spots encountered lately , I just wondered exactly what vegetables some folk like and dislike? I actually Love Brussels sprouts with a passion. (My deepest joy is a furtive Brussel sprouts fart at four in the morning with the wife half asleep. Pure Joy).
The only (obviously available) food I currently will not eat is lobster - mostly because I don't believe they've not been boiled alive. Otherwise I refuse to eat sheep's brain, just because - only ever seen it once in s Carrsfrour in Italy... No way.

Don't know it but been a couple of times to the one in Fulham Road, which sadly I haven't found to be as good as it thinks it is.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 12:34 pmLunch booked at Carluccio's in Spinningfields for Saturday? Anyone been? Any good? New one on me, this one. Picked at random.

See, I'd absolutely no idea it was a chain. Ordinarily, as you know, I avoid them like the plague. I just typed in 'restaurants spinningfields' and that's what popped up first. On saying that, the greatest disappointment of dining life was my 50th at Manchester House, and that most certainly wasn't a chain.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 4:20 pmNah. Its fine.
