Hatton v Pacquiao

Post by Verbal » Fri May 01, 2009 10:05 am

Should be a good one, this.

Be interesting to see how Hatton fairs with his new coach against an opponent who can actually punch. If Manny wins this, he will be a 6-weight champion, putting him up there with the greats.

Also, word has it Floyd Jr is out of retirement and geared to face the winner...

Thoughts on this one? I can't see past Manny myself, by points.

In fairness, Haton has lost just one fight, and against the very best at that. He seems well psyched up for this one and I'm expecting him to win it. His opponent is very top-drawer with a fantastic record. Should be a cracker.

I'm going for Hatton.

Pac hasn't fought anyone higher than lightweight before, except a shot-to-shit De La Hoya. So i'm going for Hatton to be too strong and KO him in the 6th.

I wish they'd feck off with this whole 'Fighting for the pound for pound #1' shite though. If the fight is remotely competitive Manny should stay above Ricky IMO.

Jesus, didn't expect that. Didn't expect Pac to be that strong, or Ricky to fight like a nice person. Every time he caught Pac he hurt him, but that hardly matters when you're walking in wide open. Certainly Freddie Roach got it spot on (as usual) and it just re-inforces how great it is that Amir is with him.

Glad Ricky is ok though, that was a brutal shot.

Completely embarrassing but credit to Pacquiao for taking advantage of a woeful Hstton.

Ecstatic Floyd JR is back. Lil' Floyd vs Pac would be epic.

I guess that at least now we can all remember he's a scuzz sucking City fan and put it to bed :-)

I obviously meant UK time.

Hatton looked unprepared like he'd never trained for the fight and was as naive as owt.

Of the two, Hatton did all the talking, Pacquiao said little. When it came to it...

Thanks very much for posting that, Alien3.

Wow. Let us not forget here that Hatton's no chump, but looked to be no more than a nervous amateur in that.

Take a look again at the first knock-down. Pacquiao lands a beauty and ducks Hatton's punch all in one fluid movement. Can we ever expect to see boxing to that level from Hatton?

No doubt he'll now get slated for his lifestyle again, but I for one can't see how any changes to it would have stopped him from getting completely out-boxed last night.

I can't believe I stayed up till half four in the morning to watch a match that lasted less than 10 mins. Pacquiao outclassed Hatton & he should of kept his hands up instead of exposing his face which led to that left hook.

That's the game though isn't it?

It was worth the PPV money I thought. There must have been over half a dozen fights on there last night. And still, it's not like paying £15 to watch Amir get sparked in 70 odd seconds.
