Can I have three Dark Fruits and a lager and top please?
No. Fxck off, grow up and come back in here when you can order beer and know the difference between an ale, a stout and an IPA. It's a pub not a fxckin kindergarten.

(Obviously the conversation didn't quite go like that. It should have done.)
Am I to assume s/he was also wielding an e-cig?
And shouted their order over from Spotty's usual pew :D

I do find it bizarre what can make some folk angry. You're in a pub and get upset that folk have the temerity to (a) turn up and (b) don't like the same drinks you do?

If you want a quiet read shouldn't you join a library or stop at home?

Dark fruits or strawberry and lime?

It's the disintegration of a once proud cultural tradition. The British Pub. It now just seems to make an appearance, as a sideline, in fxcking Malaga or some other foreign shithole infested with the worst of what 'Brits' have evolved into.
So yes I do get upset when some twenty year old nice person with the manners of a polecat loudly demands without a thankyou or any manners whatsoever the outlined drinks order. If me being angry by that makes you angry then gawd help us all.

I guess all the fruity cider drinkers could just buy it from Tesco and drink it with their mates at home, leaving the great British pubs to go bankrupt and close down as the traditional ale swiggers grow old and die.

Or, they could go to the pubs, spend money on said drinks and keep the establishments going for everyone to enjoy however they please?

I'll wager he also said 'can I get'. To which the logical answer should be 'we employ bar staff to do that, so no you can't get'.

Is the public house in question a traditional free house or not? My experience, for what it's worth is that specialism brings bigger rewards for the owners than selling crap to all and sundry, including your alcopop chums. For the last twenty years under two different landlords/ladies my local, a 16th century half-timbered gem, has made a rule of encouraging ale drinkers by the simple expedient of not selling the crap that the kiddies would like. The only concession to wrong stuff is draft Staropramen lager for those who like fizzy stuff and other selected products for the ladies. But we won't go into that. Nine hand pumps with an ever changing selection make the pub the most popular within a twenty mile radius and two counties. Great, friendly customers and super personable landlord and landlady in their late twenties.

The secret of a great pub is simple. Keep out the ones who would ruin the atmosphere and encourage a large local customer base and mates who feel the same about the place as you. The beer has to be good though, which it is. I feel blessed.

Mind you, you have a lot of funny buggers in Lancashire with weird tastes. Perhaps fruity alcoholic beverages are consumed in larger quantities there than anywhere else in the country. A bit like Glaswegians and Buckfast.

Is it beer snobbery if you prefer a pub which offers great conversation, no little oiks and no bloody all day Sky or deafening music? If so, I'm a snob and proud of it.
Stick to the advice of the prohibitionist Chief Medical Officer who stated (and I paraphrase) that alcohol hastens various diseases and zero consumption is the only guarantee of living forever. Yeah, right.

Bolton Royal NHS hospital (with particular mention to the Radiology Department and a team member of my consultant who thinks I'm still under the care of another department that discharged me in November last year!!!).
Just how long does it take to get scan results the length of a couple of buildings and why can you not read the summary of a patients notes before you waltz into the room and look foolish?
Yes I admit I'm stressed over this, very stressed, my plans have been on hold until I got the results which they cannot provide, wasted appointment and a formal complaint about to go in, could have seen another patient and hopefully someone gets a rocket up their Jacksie.
Bolton Royal is poor, after one of my operations there I was discharged with no proper follow up plans, no replacement pee bags (the ward manager actually delivered them to my house), not even the information about having 19 stitches removed, complete with infection and two visits to A&E (both in ambulances) before I was readmitted and placed on an isolation side ward, a crucial scan that had a report written about it that had to be queried and now this!
1/10 and that's being generous. Manchester Royal with terrible food and slightly grottier wards beats it hands down for treatment and service.
BTW I do not include the Churchill Unit in this criticism.

I'm not letting the wife read that Hoboh. Her knee replacement op has already been cancelled twice and she's on pins and ready to go in this Friday morning for the actual op. The consultant she saw originally has "disappeared" and no one seems to know where he is? I'm sure the top brass do, but it's being kept a non-topic beyond that. Weird or what? Anyway, fingers crossed.... :oyea:

I'm not really looking forward to four/five days of hospital visiting twice a day, dog-walking twice a day, shopping, gardening and all the rest of the joys of hospital stuff. Oh, and feeding the pair of us..:(
