Bolton, a once fine town, now a place of betting shops, tanning salons, Tattoo dens and nail emporiums, ruined and left behind by profiteering development companies, private enterprise and a spineless council who never listen to the public as they make yet more cuts...
Energy companies who tuck away fat profits and screw the consumers.
Churches, pubs, public buildings and cinemas lost forever from lack of support and maintenance. A market hall that has no market, just food factories.
Politicians who couldn't organise an egg and spoon race.

And....... ah forget it. What's the point of being angry. Gains nothing anyway.

Can we add Bank Holidays? We have the lowest number anywhere in the world. By a margin. Myanmar, is what we should aspire too at 32 per annum! :-)

You had to pay to get from NI to IE  ?

That doesn't sound like it could go badly!

So nowt to do with Brexit then? ;)

It once cost me (or rather, my employers) nearly £300 for me to leave a hire car I collected in Warsaw at the airport in Berlin.

Isn't there something about Geneva airport and whether you come out in France or Switzerland and drastically different charges?

Do mean Basel? Depending on which door you come out of you can be in Switzerland, Germany or France.

I'm yet to drive out of Basel without unintentionally ending up in Germany when aiming to cross into France. :D

Driving abroad, you have my admiration. Only once did I drive from Westhoughton to Cartagena on Spain's east coast. I had a 3 litre Volvo back then and clocked 3,700 miles on the "there and back" plus driving around Blimey, driving over the Pyrenees on the wrong side of the road, what a nightmare.

Apart from hiring a scooter in Bermuda, I used buses and taxis for the rest of my many trips. No Freddy Flintoff me.

Think so - or there always used to. Something to do with the car either being hired in France or Switzerland, and the charges you'd then have to pay if you took it to the other country. It always used to be that if you were intending to stay in Switzerland then make damn sure you hired the car in the Swiss part, otherwise you'd be charged to take it cross border!!!

In what the BN are reporting as an act of 'vandalism', someone's been and nicked (just under a mile's worth) all the track which the miniature train runs around Moss Bank Park on.

Vandalism, my arse.

Totally agree Bruce. The rails are aluminium based and it's obviously scrappies who would turn out in the middle of the night, not vandals, in a kids park. Somebody must know the thieves, especially any scrap yard that accepts them. Trouble is, a slapped wrist is all they'll get if caught. Do these louts not have kids or consciounses?

Harsh sentence undoubtedly but I'm not having it that an experienced geologist didn't know he was breaking the law.
