Anyways you look at it if you google her past, she clearly has not suffered from her spending splurge, except maybe for the fish lips and balloons.
Surely it does make sense that winning a substantial amount of money can induce great pressures. I remember hearing a story about a bloke who committed suicide (or tried to, can't remember which) a year or so after winning, because of pressure from friends and family.
Its like young footballers from poor backgrounds suddenly earning huge contracts. They can go off the rails quickly as they just aren't mature enough yet for that sort of money.
I think winning when you are older with kids and relatively settled in life is one thing. But can imagine an 18 year old winning does bring about huge pressures, as stupid as that may sound to some.
May the bridges I burn light your way

I'm sure they are, but I can imagine it is not so much that, more the pressure of all your friends knowing you won and expecting freebies and handouts. Also people you vaguely know asking you from money so their "baby can get their cancer treatment they need in the states" and stuff like that. I imagine for someone who is reliant on close friends and family and at certain stages in life it is a lot of pressure to handle.
When you are older (grumpier) and more established in your own life I suspect far easier - and probably easier to keep it quiet if that is what you want.

I have just watched the link you posted earlier, Hoboh. I still have shivers running up and down my spine. That bloke to me sounds like an out-and-out nutter - and he's a presidential adviser? If I were a swearing man I'd be banned from this site.

The poor bastards! They all get into it thinking they'll be defending the next Birmingham Six and correcting terrible injustices. Instead they spend their days listening to ludicrous explanations and then having to stand up and present them with a straight face.TANGODANCER wrote:Where defence lawyers try to make stupid behaviour explainable...

Aye, well, glad it isn't me that has to state somebody with multiple driving offences, no licence or insurance can drive like a madman the wrong way up a road evading police and, put kids at risk then pretend he was doing a mate a favour. Yeah, right.Prufrock wrote:The poor bastards! They all get into it thinking they'll be defending the next Birmingham Six and correcting terrible injustices. Here's a smiler for you, my youngest daughter works for a firm of defence lawyers and gets called out at all hours of the day to hear these tales of woe...

But has she ever thought of just getting rid of her winnings to relieve herself of the burden?
“What?” Jane laughs incredulously. “Nah.”
“Jane parties about three times a week in Edinburgh and Glasgow with the same loyal pals she had before her life changed.
The Yanks have a perfect phrase for her....I don’t go on holiday that much, about four times a year,” she said. “I wait until my friends can go.

Do you know that Trump successfully cited force majeure in his non-repayment trial brought about by Deutsche Bank for over $300m because he said that nobody could've foreseen the mid 90's financial collapse? I may be wrong but I think that he even tried to counter sue. He may even have won. JSLHoboh wrote:Oh God, she just gets thicker, poor little me, me, me!

I'm fairly sure Hobes will be along extolling the virtues of Tony Blair, shortly.

Oh, you mean the gift that won't stop giving
A few comments from remain camp number one, the Guardian,
Well, if there is anyone who is an authority on misinformation and the misleading of the
public, it has to be Blair.
But surely no-one is going to be stupid enough to pay attention to what he says this time around?
Ahhhh... the crypt stirs again
As soon as this man appears to speak on behalf of any issue, I'd not be surprised if there isn't an immediate 5% sway in sentiment towards the opposite position
Please no. You evil undead. Please do not jeopardise our mission to prevent our country from committing suicide.
Please don't support Remain arguments. That's the kiss of death
I voted remain. About the only person I know who could persuade me that Brexit is a good idea is Blair. Please just go away. And take your acolytes who are still a stain on the Labour Party with you.
