Never been before....will no doubt crash.
You need to drive like an absolute loon to crash a go-kart.
That'll be me then. :)
Here's a tip. Take your own balaclava. If it's anything like most of the go-kart courses I've been to the helmets will be foam lined and they are absolutely minging with sweat after about five minutes of loon like driving. If you've got your own balaclava it at least mitigates some of that.

It's ace! We went this weekend. I'm still in pain though. There'll be aches in your back from the twisting and turning, and try not to do what I did and tank it into the tyres at the end of the straight at top speed. That hurt. Really hurt. LLP is right about the helmet. And gloves. And overalls. Grim. But fun.

Went to one on a works do somewhere in the Manc area about five/six years back. You were supposed to turn your helmet back to the rack after every heat as you had to wait a while for your next one. I found a decent helmet and kept sticking it out of sight at the back of the rack. Worked okay for me. I did get a tannoy bollocking for excessive use of brake and accelarator though.

Good fun.

have done that a couple of times with eldest son and daughter... eldest son always beats me - he has no fear!!! I drive karts like an old man - braking at the corners... (daughter usually wipes out into the tyres after 2 laps!!)

Not tonight, but a weekend recap, since I've had a busy one with Dorris coming to stay.

Friday we went for a walk up Rivington. It absolutely lashed it down Thursday night, and so we prepared for the worst. It turned out to be a pretty nice day, especially given the recent standard! Mainly sunny. Had a good walk, up to the top barn, round the back, and up to the Pigeon Tower (which she said looked like the scene of a horror film) then across and up to the pike. Cracking view from the top, if a little blustery. Walked back down through the Chinese Gardens (that's what we've always called them - as well as the Pigeon Tower, not whatever Monty had it down as - but a sign said they were the Japanese Gardens?!) had a stop at the lake, which is stunning, then back down to the barn. Stopped at the chapel on the way back and went to have a look at my grandparents 'plot' (I think it is called an interment. It's a wall with holes in that ashes are put in, and then covered by a sort of plaque with the name and dates of the person) in the Garden of Peace. I hadn't been for ages, and I'd forgotten how nice it is there, in the garden, and around the chapel generally. Then we decided we wanted a stop. We should have stopped in the chapel tea rooms, but I'd worked up the thirst for a pint so we went to Rivi club, but they'd run out of cask! Scandal. Had a pint of Theakston's, which was OK as keg goes, but still. Crumpets and a tea-cake, pint and a glass of wine - £7, but if I'd known they had no proper beer I'd have stopped in the ones at the Chapel.

Saturday we went go-karting, which was ace, though I think I've fooked my shoulder. Then to Frankie and Benny's which was pretty pish and then bowling which didn't help the shoulder.

All round a pretty belting weekend!

I went 2 weeks ago. Posted it on here, but must have forgotten to press 'submit', coz I can't find it.

It was Ben Fogle, nice enough chap but not quick or cynical enough to hold Greg Davies ... a genuinely funny man ... and Janet Street-Porter, funny, witty, quick & every bit as obnoxious live as her image on TV. The shit she gave the floor crew was disgraceful.

It took 3 hours to film what will become about 25min on screen. Very funny and I did wonder why a rough edit wouldn't be shown. Pared down to maybe 90-120 mins it would still be very entertaining.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Yeah me too. Just curious as 8 out of ten cats is a channel four show, and something in the back of my head says that there is still some studios in london. Could be wrong though. I probably am.
