I think Chris Evans is being 'wacky' when he presents TFI Friday. Which I also find cringe inducing but something different.Bruce Rioja wrote:The difference being?Beefheart wrote:It's not wacky, it's just daft.

Nice heads up. just got tickets for Hammersmith Apollo too!Beefheart wrote:Not tonight, but just bought tickets to watch Reeves & Mortimer live at the beginning of February
I dont mind Vic but Bob provides the magic. Went to see the recording of Richard Herrings Podcast when Bob was his guest, he is the funniest human i can think of.

Yeah, that's my favourite of the podcasts. Did you hear them when they were on that Radio 4 chain reaction programme?General Mannerheim wrote:Nice heads up. just got tickets for Hammersmith Apollo too!Beefheart wrote:Not tonight, but just bought tickets to watch Reeves & Mortimer live at the beginning of February

I did - they were an embarrassment to both themselves and their families as well as to the BBC. As funny as root canal surgery. I'd have happily gunned down their guffawing, obsequious audience too.Beefheart wrote:Did you hear them when they were on that Radio 4 chain reaction programme?

I'm with Bruce tbh.

Not even a smirk, mate. We'll just have to agree to disagree because I couldn't detect even an attempt at humour in that shite.Beefheart wrote: Here's the greatest sketch ever for you to not enjoy:

Words brought Marbella old town into my head for some reason; possibly because it's a lovely place to wander around. Cheers...KeyserSoze wrote:Spent the long weekend in Philadelphia.

I spent a couple of days there a few years ago. It was about 35 degrees and we spent most of our time in an Irish pub. So as far as I'm concerned 'Always Sunny In Philadelphia' is an accurate depiction.KeyserSoze wrote:Spent the long weekend in Philadelphia.

There's a bar called Mac's Tavern, and opposite the street a place called Charlie's Jeans. Made me chuckle.Beefheart wrote:I spent a couple of days there a few years ago. Re: Where are you going tonight?
The Octagon last night for Jim Cartwrights 'Two', directed by David Thacker.
If you've ever been in a pub and thought 'all human life is here' then this play takes that as its starting point and builds on it.
A cast of just two. Colin Connor, who all Octagon regulars will know well, and Katy Cavanagh, who was last seen in Corrie as knicker stitcher, Julie. This was RADA trained Katies stage debut but she looks born to it. These two play a variety of rolls centered around the pub landlord and landlady and the pubs clientele on a busy night. The play is a roller coaster of an emotional ride. Pre interval its a rich comedy with only hints of what is to come in the second half. In particular watch out for Katies 'Big Man' monologue, which was brilliantly observed by her. The second half gets much, much darker but the emotions get twisted and turned right up the scale in a way that only theatre can do. Film can't get anywhere near this!
The place was full, no doubt drawn in by Katy, and there was standing room only in the bar by 6.45pm, never heard of before. I've never seen the Octagon audience do a proper standing ovation but they got close to it last night and it was very much deserved. I've seen many plays at this venue and this is right up there with the best of them. Any play that stuns you into silence on the way home and then wakes you up during the night and has you thinking in the small hours has something special about it, and this certainly does. Colin Connor was wiping away actual tears as he took his bow at the end and Katy Cavanagh was utterly brilliant.
If you don't have tickets you'd better hurry. It finishes next Saturday night to make way for the sequel, 'Two 2'

There on Thursday, Clapton, and really looking forward to it (never heard of Katy Cavanagh though).

I was fortunate enough to see W.T.W's Early One Morning get a well-deserved one on its opening night.clapton is god wrote: I've never seen the Octagon audience do a proper standing ovation but they got close to it last night and it was very much deserved. '

Re: Where are you going tonight?
All of what Clappers had to say about Two. Wonderful to see the place full on a Thursday, wonderful to see a richly deserved standing ovation, and wonderful to see a superb play brilliantly acted out by two outstanding, versatile actors. An excellent evening at the theatre.
