rage against the machine...

Post by thebish » Thu Dec 17, 2009 9:12 am

Just heard rage against the machine interviewed on the R5 breakfast show... they then allowed then to play their song - LIVE..

I thought to myself - surely not??? before 9am on R5????

and as expected - the song builds to its climax and then....

F**k you I won't do what you tell me,

F**k you I won't do what you tell me,

F**k you I won't do what you tell me,

and the song goes dead....

the presenter interjects - I'm sorry we had to stop that - We did tell them not to do that!!

ha, class! was on radio 1 this morning too, no swearing tho :(

George Michael on Chris Evans last night was funny though, he was effing and jeffing like a trooper!

might be juvenile, but theres nowt funnier than a good swear where its not supposed to happen!

sure brightened up my morning!

really tickles me that the climax of the song is a repeated and loud insistent "F**K YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!"

and R5 think that they will do as they are told! 8)

Harsh Bish, that's a clue you'd need a Poirot to pick up on I'm sure you'll agree

harsh - but funny! I guess it was her choice of words that tickled me - "we TOLD them not to do that!"

I still think Bohemian Rhapsody by The Muppets should be Christmas no.1.

Love RATM. Why would you even let them play that song? Without the curses it's neutered so just have them play one of their many other great songs. Bulls on Parade is short and curse free I think.

That's brilliant. Love the spiteful little dig at the end - after a desperate "GERRITOFF!!!!!", "We told them not to, they still did, go and buy Joe's record"

Yeah, swearing on the radio in the morning, kids in the car etc...

Yeah how cool and edgy that is!

To be honest I love the band, but Zack has lost some of my respect for that.

He's giving it all the non-comformist bo**ocks appealing to all these 'rebellious' kids whilst performing on BBC radio 5 to get people to buy his songs to get him into the number 1 spot for commercial sales.

Spot the irony

Well the band is Rage Against The Machine.

It's not their job to be soft and cuddly for the morning drive. They want respect for their message and their actions. Not for playing nice on the radio.

Oh come on mate! It's not their job? Maybe, but they could act like professionals.

As for the "respect for their messages and actions", well that ship sailed when Zack decided to start acting a first class prick with actions like climbing all over the stage during an awards ceremony.

As for playing nice on the radio? How about acting like a professional when given a chance to promote something that they believe in?

Sorry, but the song has been censored before many moons ago when it was actually released, they've performed LIVE on MTV etc and self-edited! Zack didn't keep the swearing in for integrity, he did it for controversy.

But yeah, Zack should carry on raging against the machine he's a cog in, and continue to make money from it.

What message is this anyway? We don't like popular music so we're going to sabotage it by re-re-releasing a song from well over 10 years ago. Maybe if new bands came out and were actually half decent, actually relevent themselves then we could use a song from this year by a band that actually still release music to make that message?

Oh yeah, that's right...there's nobody. I suppose it's Simon Cowell's fault that kids don't write articulate, important songs nowadays in their bands?

LOL I know what you mean and you are quite right, I just think that it might not be the smartest idea to play that song on a station kids could listen too anyways. Also, it wasn't Zack who was climbing everywhere it was the drummer. Makes a slight difference as the singer is usually the rep. of the band.

Wasn't it fantastically predictable. For her to come out with that was just the absolute icing. Pissed my sides, I did!
