Wenlock & Mandeville

Post by malcd1 » Thu May 20, 2010 2:22 pm

These two are the two mascots of the London 2012 Olympics Games.

There is a short story of how they came about that was 'set' in Bolton. If you know what I mean. It was inspired by Watson Steel in Horwich.

Even Amir Khan makes a brief appearance.

Anyway here is the link to the video and to the Bolton News website explaining it in a bit more detail.

Bolton will now forever be associated in Olympic history with animated penises covered in spandex condoms that broke open at the 'business end'.

No doubt the mealy mouthed luddites will be on soon bemoaning this and anything else as a flagrant waste of taxpayers money, so with a nod to Jimmy...

Is it too soon to blame the coalition government for this?

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

People will slate it, because it's the only thing anyone can do when talking about the Olympics.

It's not a lion, or a bulldog, so it'll do for me.

Possible anagrams:

A damned cloven inkwell or (nearly) Medieval Cock Wand

I think they look great, and they seem to be popular with the seven year olds at school - the sort of people they were designed to look good for.

Anything that makes a curious foreigner stick 'Bolton' into google is fine by me.

The video would have been better with say the Reebok in the background or an accurate representation of the town hall.

When they turn up at the Reebok, which they will, I wonder if Lofty will be under strict instructions not to take the piss like he has in the past!

They should have stuck with Wallace and Gromitt.

Which is the point I've been making to all the angry bastards whinging about the cost. Don't like them myself, but then I'm not a child.

Having looked again, I'm starting to get used to them. Berlino the Bear from last year's World Athletics was much better though.

So cos theyre designed for kids, it's wrong to moan about the cost?

You've lost me

Can I not accept theyre OK cos kids like 'em and still think its money for old rope?
