This is where I spend most of my Sunday's, either whitewater kayaking down the river Dee, or walking in the hills. The Vale of Llangollen is a beautiful place:

Panorama Walks, Nr Llangollen. For those who use Google Earth you can see this on the 'Street View' system & it's amazing.

I often used to drive to that very spot at lunchtimes & listen to some music looking at that very view.

From it you can see the River Dee, Llangollen Canal, the old Railway and the A5 ... all those modes of transport. Plus the Llangollen golf course. Really, really beautiful up there.

Are you sure it was just the views that attracted you to spend your lunchtimes there?

Went out early this morning to catch the early light back up Haytor (having forgotten my memory card last time!)

got there and the light was horrid - grey and murky - landscape featureless and drab...

decided to climb up anyway - and sat up the top waiting to see if the clouds would clear. My patience was rewarded as the sun came out - and a rainbow appeared!!

Yup i know the area quite well fished that area loads of times iv also boxed (legally ofcourse ) up that way a few times not to mention the countless times iv watched the mighty Argyle play Torquay

Got some good friends that live in Bovey Tracey (not to mention an ex mrs)

And yes bud i am Plymouth born and bred and proud of it

wasn't born there - but was there from about the age of 6 up until about 18...

i often take take the dog down to oddicombe beach and walk across to babbacombe beach - where there are ALWAYS fishermen fishing off the pier...

You might get away with £130 if it was just camera body - but then that wouldn't be much use to you! with the Nikon kit lens (Nikkor 18-55mm) - I suspect you'd be looking at £160-£170..

unless you got lucky on ebay of course!

you should be aware that those pictures are HDR - and not exactly straight out of the camera.. they were taken with a D60 and the ordinary kit lens and no added filters - but each one involved me taking 5 exposures to cover the full dynamic range and then combining them and then tonemapping them...

Well, not quite, but realising some things about yourself. And friends. Well, supposed ones, anyway.

Let the rebuilding BEGIN. (final emo post from me, promise).

an HDR image formed from the merging of the 5 photos i took creates a 32bit image. but screens and prinbters can only handle 8 or 16bits - so they cannot view a 32 bit image properly - so it has to be "mapped" into an 8bit image - but in such a way as it gives the illusion that it still covers the same depth of dynamic range... that's what tone-mapping software does.

the technique is useful because - as you will have noticed - cameras don't record what the eye sees - they are infinitely poorer than the human eye. this is most commonoy noticed with indoor photos.

if you took a photo of a room looking out into the garden on sunny day - the eye would be able to cope with seeing the dark room and the brighter garden. the camera can't - it can only set it's exposure from one light level. so - either you have a nicely exposed photo of the room - but with the window appearing as a bright white square - OR you have a clear photo of the garden through the window - but the room is then dark...

by taking the same shot 5 times at different exposures you can then cover the whole dynamic range and then create a photo which is much closer to the truth - or what the eye sees...

the photos i took of the moors - at one end of the exposure range there was no sky detail - but good moorland detail - and at the other end the moorland was dark and featureless - but the sky now had detail... combine them - and you get both...
