Indeed, but if you had to live in welsh London (as I do), then every time you see a rihidiculouse spelling of a word that is already perfectly spelt in English, then it tends to grate somewhat. e.g Ambulance = Ambiwlans.thebish wrote:I quite liked welsh London!
I kid you not.
Hope is what keeps us going.

Today I'm happy about...... Free Knickers
I ordered a six-pack of CK shorts online about six weeks ago which I paid for on my credit card. Anyhow, a week or so later I got an apologetic email saying that due to unprecedented demand they'd sold out and that they'd credited the amount paid back to my card, which they have. So, I get back from being away this week to find one of those red Royal Mail card jobbies on the mat. Went to the collection place this morning expecting to collect a pair of trainers that I've ordered only to find the item was in fact a six pack of CK shorts. I've checked my card online and they haven't charged me again, ergo: Free Knickers

Hot pants?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Today I'm happy about......
Today is the 41st Birthday of the UAE, my adopted home for the foreseeable. Got a text message from Sheikh Mo, boss man of Dubai, which was rather nice. I'm guessing my fellow expats got it as well, but it was a nice touch all the same.
I know Dubai isn't everyone's cup of tea, but there is more to the place than the UK press would have you believe if you scratch beneath the surface. It is remarkable how far the place has come in such a short time. It has a long way to go yet, but I'm definitely happy to be here.
Happy Birthday UAE

I'm happy and bloody impressed with Amazon today.
Was waiting on a large order that when I checked tracking told me it had been delivered. Turned out the delivery company had a slightly different postcode. Went on line and theres a page on Amazons site which asks you to input your phone number in and they'll call you. I'd only just clicked it and the phone rang - chap on the end says they'll re-send the order.
No quibble or fuss, no waiting in a queue or ringing premium rate numbers. Customer service as it should be.

Not in Dubai you won't. Which is why they're having to diversify to such an extent. Should you head down to Abu Dhabi however, and poke stick in the ground, then, Jed Clampett style, up from the ground pops a bubblin' crude.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:You'll find sand, lots of it, floating on a bed of oil.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Today is the 41st Birthday of the UAE...

Aye. In Dubai if you poke a stick in the sand you'll just hit the foundations of something that never got built because someone ran out of cash! Construction, tourism, shopping and bullshit reign supreme here
