Successful design is making something last four weeks longer than the expiry date of the guarantee.bobo the clown wrote:Do you have to pay though, or is it free for 12 months, by which time the thing's knackered ?CrazyHorse wrote:There's a sale starts Boxing Day at DFS. We don't even need a new sofa. But these sales are once every Preston so I'm stocking up and buying a couple.

It's the same sale. They just keep on extending it ad infinitum.CrazyHorse wrote:We don't even need a new sofa. But these sales are once every Preston so I'm stocking up and buying a couple.

Well that's not actually true though, is it?! There are laws surrounding which items are offered at a reduced price in a 'Sale'. Oh, and that 'art of design' is called planned, or built-in obsolescence. Happy to helpTANGODANCER wrote:It's the same sale. Well I'm 5th in the queue ... No sign of any Crazy Horse. So looks like I'm going the get that green leather 'L-shaped' settee which is down from £3,750 to a mere £3,000.

today I am officially Mr Fixit (NO - NOT JIM - before anyone says that!!)
replaced headlamp bulb and brake-light bulb in the inlaws car - OK - not hard - but they now think I have saved them a massive garage bill - so - big brownie points!!
then - mysterious damp patch in the carpet downstairs under-stairs toilet - getting bigger each day... I suspected all sorts of underground flooding scenarios (give all the rain we have had)..
anyway - it was threatening to spread out into the hallway - so pulled up the carpet today to investigate - and discovered a drip from the cold-water-feed pipe into the cistern... I got my adjustable spanner and tightened all the bits that looked like you could tighten them - and the drip stopped! Now the missus thinks I have saved us a MASSIVE plumbers bill - so - more major brownie points!

My friend getting engaged and asking me to be best man.
This means that by 2014, I will have been best man three times, and funnily enough none of the friends that have asked me have actually met each other.

Re: Today I'm happy about......
just back from new year down in the New Forest at my mum's place...
cheered myself up after hearing the score on New Year's day by taunting one of my mum's collies...
(well - it's a dog in 3D glasses - what's not to like???)

Love it Bish! So cute!
Re: Today I'm happy about......
also - was a bit cross this morning as was woken by the phone... my aunt (who lives near my mum) - her emergency push button went off and we were called to drive over and see what was wrong (not knowing what we would find)... (she is prone to falling - and last week she fell through her glass table and got stuck..)
so - dashed round via the little windy lanes of the New Forest - to find her perfectly fine... she had just been "testing" it - as it was a new one and they had said she ought to! (YES - BUT NOT AT 5:45AM!!)
got back to mum's house at abt 6:30 - wide awake and not really worth going back to bed.. so I waited for the sunrise (which otherwise I would have slept through) and took myself down to Keyhaven Marina... it was well worth it!
