Re: London 2012
Refused to on principle. You HAVE to have a Visa (I already do but that's not the point). You HAVE to buy all of the tickets that you bid for should all your bids be successful (given that people will pad out their bid expecting not to be successful with every one) and that it's being held in the arsehole of London (scratch that; it's being held in the arsehole of the entire UK).
May the bridges I burn light your way

Re: London 2012
I do agree the insistence on Visa is odd and i know people that have spent over £1000 on various tickets because of not being guaranteed to get them all... Personally, i'm not THAT desperate to go that i would do that. Theres always quality athletics on at Crystal Palace every July for which its easy (and cheap) to get tickets. Yes, it would be nice to see the Olympics but not at any cost. Not hopeful on getting the athletics tickets (want to see Idowu in the Triple Jump) but reckon we should be able to get the trampolining ones as thats more of a minority sport...

Re: London 2012
I wanted to watch Basketball, but you only pay for a session and day, and there's no guarantee who you'll watch. So for the price of seeing the superstars of Team USA I could end up watching Lithuania vs Greece. That doesn't work for me sadly.
Rest of it I'm not arsed about. It'll be one of them that anyone in London will feel like the whole country is enjoying the event with them, and everyone else thinks London's titting about as usual spending our tax money.

F*ck em.
I have no love lost for Manchester, but the sneering from down south when they went for it could be heard up here.
I think London will only be satisfied when every c*nt is living and working there. But then they won't be.
In fact, if you could caricature bloodyf*ckingbastardingnoncingLondon, it would be a small child having a tantrum on the floor of the sweet shop because it wants everything.
Not that I've owt against it or anything.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Don't care for London, so won't be going.
Re: London 2012
With the amount of taxpayers money the labour party commited us to pay out for this lot (including all the hidden "inferstructure cost" for a part of London only the natives know exists) it should be FREE!!!!

No, it was outrageously overpriced

Good. The more people think this the more chance I have of getting to see the events I want.

Re: London 2012
Applied for 9 events, got nowt, not happy. Now they say more than half the people who applied didn't get any tickets & the organisers are happy with that FFS.
If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England

Re: London 2012
Anyway, change this thread title ..... apparently the UK Olympics management want to copywrite "2012" !!
... & no, I didn't bother trying. At least I'm not miffed that I got nowt. Do you think any of it will be on telly ???

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
