Retro telly!

Post by Gooner Girl » Thu Jun 09, 2011 7:36 pm

Answering this may show your age! After the sweet thread I was thinking, what kids telly programmes do you remember fondly from your youth?! (if any - I know a lot of you are very old and TV's may not have been invented when you were young ;) )

For me being born in 1980 it's the mid/late 80s and early 90s vivid in my mind so I remember the likes of banana man, dangermouse, Bertha, pigeon street, postman pat, count duckula and of course Blue Peter and their milk bottle top collections. Ahhhh! Happy days :)

If you can't guess, my early TV memories are from the early to mid 1970's.

Bod
Jamie and the Magic Torch
Chorlton and the Wheelies
Banana Splits
Roobarb and Custard
and my personal favourite Babapapa.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

Pob and Bertha!

Then a little bit later I used to really like those "teen drama" series' that came on after Newsround just before Neighbours; Elidor was top, The Girl From Tomorrow was good in a weird Aussie 2399 way (and she was hot), and also one called Dark Season, anyone else remember that? It had Kate Winslet in it about an evil computer called Behemoth taking over a school, brilliant stuff!

This might be useful to some of you to bring back some old memories. Incredible Games! I'd forgotton about that.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Magic Roundabout.

Captain Pugwash.

Branded - always remember the epaulets being yanked off the uniform.

Good call with The Clangers TD.
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.
