The athletics/running thread

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Off to Pontefract parkrun with my fellow Leeds based bwfc exile mate on sat morning. Anyone fancy a bit of parkrun tourism?
Dibble, are you doing it?
Too far for me that mate. LHP again Saturday and breakfast if Bruce is around?

Having a bash at Hendersons end fell race tonight. I'm way off race fitness and intend to just trot round. New course this year too that includes two ascents of the pike. Only hope I'm up to it!

Just been to the foot-fettler, who, after removing the corn that's felt like I've been running with a piece of glass in my shoe for quite a while now, informed me that I have inverted, over-supinating feet and that she's surprised that my knees aren't shagged-out. Thanks very much.

Anyway, any of you raspberries down there tomorrow?

One of those days when you need a complete change of clothing, just to go to breakfast.

Just to encourage you runners to greater heights, the Brownlee Brothers are on the Triatholon start line right now on B.B.C 2. Just thought I'd mention it like...

Did 5K this morning a full 4 minutes quicker (or less slow) than yesterday's monsoon trudge!

That was a tactical masterclass right there TD.

Pulled ahead early on the bike then dropped the two frenchies when they couldn't keep pace. Excellent work between them considering their preparations weren't ideal (one having done a middle distance race just the week before). Congratulations on Team GB for getting 4 in the top five finishers too, especially on this course!

This Saturday sees me doing an equivalent distance in and around Rutland Water. With temperatures in the mid twenties the only thing I'm looking forward to is the swim and the free pint of Erdinger at the end. :drink:

Been working hard to regain some levels of fitness post bad back, manful and whatnot. Did Parkrun on Saturday, 5K around mine on Sunday, 5K on hotel gym treadmill on Monday, night off on Tuesday and 5K round mine last night. Might sneak another one in tonight. We'll see.

A rest between runs is important. If you rush to get back too soon you risk injuring yourself. The fourth discipline in triathlon is rest, Grasshopper!

Sensei Older Brother is forever banging on to me that rest is as equally important as exercise. I just have that whole deal down as being counter intuitive.
