Was anyone else at today's color run in Manchester? Was good fun :). I ran 5k for the first time on Thursday and then jumped straight into doing the 5k color run today.

Somehow managed to do it in under 28 minutes too! Though my running app claims I only ran 2.6 miles, so not sure where the other half mile disappeared to! Will probably start on the Bolton PR in the next week or two.

Well done mate. Parkrun no problem!
I realised parkrun wasn't happening for me this weekend when I was drinking gin and cooking sausages at 4am.
5k on the cycle track at the Brownlee Triathlon centre weds though.

Haha, I probably didn't have the best pre-run preparation myself. Friday night fish & chips. Went down incredibly well though :D.

I realised you weren't making it at around 3pm last Tuesday when you mentioned beer!

Is that Darkrun a regular thing? Where does that happen?

Same venue, with a slightly different course. The hills are still covered!!

It's on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm from the car park by the leisure centre.

They call it D.A.R.K. run when it's light. Don't ask me what the acronym stands for.

When the nights draw in it becomes Darkrun. Head torches MUST be worn.

Apologies for the thoroughly dull post!

Not at all. I was just curious as to how you did a Darkrun in the middle of summer. Wondered whether they started at "last orders" or something. :-)

I think they should make BP do it with a blindfold on.
Or a gimp mask.

Ah cool, cheers! I may check it out after I start with the parkruns.

Do they still time it and collate the results somewhere? Or is it just a smaller, relaxed thing?

No official timings or results. I use my Nike+ app to track my times.

It's a smaller, relaxed group of around 15-20 people going around at their own pace. I will be there tomorrow night, possibly with HG, maybe even Bruce. Come and join us!

First one for a while. Just a 3k walk. Sweating like a dingo's donger.

Been busy with races recently.

Dambuster Triathlon - mid June Olympic distance (open water swim 1500m bike 42km run 10km) 2hrs 49mins - a new pb

Trent Park Aquathlon - last Saturday (400m pool swim and 5km run) 30.36mins

Lea Valley Aquathlon - last night (500m open water swim and 5.5km run) 36.39 - a new pb.

I'm currently leading the 50+ group in this series and am on course to win if I just attend one of the remaining two races (Aug. or Sept.) My plan this year was to not do too much distance work and concentrate on the sprint stuff. I'm loving racing at the moment (I have a 10km road race tomorrow) and may even get to pick up some silverware too.

Coming up to Bolton in a couple of weeks and will try and make the Park Run. Hope to see you there.

Will be there tomorrow, Bumped into The BN's finest whilst strolling through town earlier. Says he's up for the Bury 10 too. I need to register to make myself do it. Spoke with LE too. Looks like a Yarkshire PR is on for the weekend.

Cheers for the offer but I think I need to take a few days off after what happened last night. :D
Was out on a 3 mile run, steep downhill section near to the start absolutely killed me with rear hip pain (on one side) coming out of nowhere. Every bounce was just agony. Once I was flat (or even uphill) again I was fine. Had zero pain during the color run on Sat.

As a 29 year old, that was a rather confusing pain to experience! I may just need to take more care with my stretching before & after the runs.

Great results GtE. PBs at 50 Plus are impressive.
I'm just at the Brownlee Triathlon centre for a 5k race. The circuit is built on a fcuking hill! Was expecting pancake flat. Not run since last Tues with dodgy hip but it's eased off so hoping the rest will do me good.
Arrived too early so sitting in the car listening to 80s songs and eating opal fruits. And waffling at you lot.

I've had something similar for ages. Improved it by stretching hip flexors and strengthening glutes and core on physio advice. Still not right though. Hopefully will just clear up.
