Re: The athletics/running thread
Tested the bad back out yesterday by doing the PR before taking on Skiddaw. That'd learn it!
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: The athletics/running thread
Done the Canterbury Park Run the last three Saturdays, three PB's, down to 22.43 which is a PB on all courses and overall about a minute quicker over the three weeks.

Nice one Beefy!
Did Finsbury Park with Kinty today. 22.25.

Re: The athletics/running thread
In the interests of trying to get back to some sort of a reasonable time (by my standard anyway) today I was 1 min 26 secs faster than last week, which was itself 1 min 2 secs faster than the one before.

Heading the right way. I was going to test my calf after 8 days rest but did a 15 pint pub crawl instead. Little jog this afternoon then hopefully back on it.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 6:09 pmIn the interests of trying to get back to some sort of a reasonable time (by my standard anyway) today I was 1 min 26 secs faster than last week, which was itself 1 min 2 secs faster than the one before.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Did a ParkRun in Hertford yesterday, Panshanger Park. 23.03 is nowhere near my PB but on a strange course and after my Track Mile on Thursday (where I nearly coughed up a lung) I'm happy enough.
Started too far back and there was a bit of a bottleneck in the first 500 metres so when I saw a gap (where the fairweather fannies were tiptoeing round a big puddle) I just ran straight through. Overtook about 20 ata stroke, Finished 47th out of 298 so happy enough.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Was considering about it, but I will have moved down south by then and it'll be a bit of a trek. Thinking of doing the Manchester Half in October though.Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2017 12:29 pmDoing Bolton Half Marathon the week before. Seriously good luck with that. Hope our paths may still cross via occasional appearances at Bolton parkrun.
Running wise, after a promising 5k it all went tits up for a bit but have recovered from a couple of minor injuries and should be OK for the Bury 10k. Half marathon, no chance!

Ah no, because it'll be half term so it makes the trek more worthwhile if I'm staying longer.
Moving to Ashford in Kent.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Well, the training started pretty well last night. Got my best time in ages, apparently. Any of you Slot Badgers up for this one? https://www.fyldecoastrunners.com/autum ... r-10k.html

Re: The athletics/running thread
Done a couple of fell races this week. Harrock hill on Wednesday which is more of a trail race, and is 6 miles of constant running. Yesterday was Turnslack over Littleborough way. 2 miles longer with 3 or 4 absolutely brutal climbs. A chance to rest the lungs a bit but murder on the knees.
My hill climbing is pretty weak and I kept losing places on the ups but gaining them back on the descents. Finished in the top half of the field on both days (just ) but still a few minutes off my best yet. Must be all those post park run breakfasts!
