Into the semis! Amazing.
Don't forget there is another teenager in the semis, Canada's own Leylah Fernandez. Leylah just made the finals. It would be great if Emma Raducanu could also get to the finals. Of course, Emma was born in Canada as well, just like Greg Rusedski. On the men's side Felix, like Emma and Greg, was born in Montreal. It is quite a US open for Canada.

Wow. What a superstar. Unbelievable stuff. Absolutely took apart Sakkari's second serve. Just steps in and bang.

Great achievement! Wimbledon will hold some more interest next year! She’s so young too!

You never know because sometimes people break through and then drift back, especially it seems in the women's game, but I've honestly never seen anything like it. If she can just stay fit and keep up her progress she could genuinely go and win 10+ majors.

*Obviously* a massive if, like, but Rusedski and Annabel Croft both said after the nearest they could thing of for break-through and precociousness at that sort of age was Nadal.

Sakkari is a good player, and relatively a big hitter and she just took her apart. The self-confidence and almost disdain for pressure was ridiculous. Any look at a second serve and she was returning running in from the baseline and absolutely crunching them back. And in rallies she sort of looks like a girl, nice angles but seems to barely be able to clear the net until she just flicks a switch and absolutely nails it.

18yo v 19yo in the final. Bodes well for the women's game in the future! Fernandez has beaten some proper players to get there too.

Yep it happens - its why if she can win this its absolutely massive - the pressure is to a huge extent gone - a GS champion at 18 - you can go downhill but nobody can take it away. There is a bit of something similar to Sharapova winning Wimbledon initially here for me too. The timing is just spot on as the women's game has opened up somewhat.

Tennis suddenly has more fans than people who can spell Raducanu. :D

I've met Greg Rusedski (and his lovely wife, Lucy) quite a few times. Absolutely lovely fella.

It did actually used to piss him off when he was referred to as British when he won and Canadian when he lost.

Success does indeed have many fathers.

Wish she would hurry up and win it, it’s the first time this season I’ve wanted to watch MOTD! Only missed the Ronaldo love in so far :vomit:

Wow. Wow.

Who’d have thought an injury would help win her the tournament? You have to say the composure of an 18 year old to suffer an injury at a time when your opponent is just sniffing it and you feel momentum slipping away to sit there being bandaged up for a minute or two and compose yourself to come out and finish it off after you’ve had two championship points already is well out of this world.

18 and wins the US open without dropping a set. In truth nobody could get near her. Just amazing.
