f'cough !!

We were too busy collecting bommy wood, knicking others collections, having small fires & burning taters in them, doing 'penny for the guy' and chucking bangers at each other.

This Americanised shite was force fed via the TV programmes & marketeers. Unless you're a lot younger than you look W4E ?
Nope, probably can't own up to "a lot younger than I look", we did all the bommy stuff too and trick or treat. In fairness, we certainly didn't get many "treats", which made for a lot of bins tied to front doors n stuff..
I'm not sure putting half a dozen bangers & a Roman Candle in a metal bin & then knock-a-dorr running was trick-or-treating Worthy.

Just good old, no-harm-meant yobbishness (or, if it was yourself doing it ... "great fun").
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It's not that modern a phenomena. Was going in the US way before the 70's.

You're from Salford so demanding money with menaces was just a way of life for you pikey c*nts. Meanwhile, in civilized society, we made do with turnip lanterns ;)

Ah .... an urbanite. Well, in Horwich "trick or treat" would have been met with "f'cough & if you do anything you shouldn't I'll be round yours & tear your front door off, you little tw@t ! .... & yes, I DO know who you are & where you live & who your dad is !!"

Or maybe that was just at my place ??

Hope you enjoyed it - far from the madding crowd I imagine at this time of year.

Aye, my missus took it. Bit of a miracle really, usually her photos consist of vast expanses of tarmac and my legs, that or vast acres of sky and the top of my head.

One of the bad days today.

But I got some freelance work. Swings and roundabouts and all that =]

Barclaycard - how long have they been sending out annual statements? Just opened what I thought was this month's bill, saw the amount of £1,770, shat in my crackers, then realised it was an annual statement - the bastards!

Not angry, certainly nor happy .... just made me laugh.

Though I think it would be angry if it was me.
=======================================

A friend of my son took 'advantage' of one of those offers which came on-line from Groupon. It was for 80% off a teeth-whitening session. She's been planning to investigate this for a while & thought £50 or so was worth a go,

She arrived at a private house, a guy opened the door in shorts & a tee-shirt, looked like a bit of a body-building type, tattoo's everywhere, shaved head and ... relevantly ... pretty poor teeth. He confirmed that it was him who was offering the 'service' and led her to his garage where there was a kitched chair on a piece of carpet, a small cabinet, sheets, towels & some bowls which he filled with water and proceeded to set about his business.

She expalins that she knew she should have said "whoa, I don't think so", but said she was embarrassed and 'felt a bit sorry for him' so simply went through with it. She said he was nice enough ... though a bit pongy close up ... he explained that he bought the kits off t'interweb & had 'been on a course'.

Her teeth were not noticably whiter than I recall them, not that I've spent too much time looking (honest guv).
