Went to a pub quiz last night. We got 49/50. Still didn't win. Not cool.

Then it's either piss easy or some many are cheating.KeyserSoze wrote:Went to a pub quiz last night. We got 49/50. Still didn't win. Not cool.
There must have been some serious smart-phone use going on.
What question did you get wrong ?

It was piss easy. Think the lowest score was about 44/45 or something.
Question we got wrong (and, annoyingly, it was question 50), was: Which two countries share the longest continuous land border?

That's what we said, and while that's the longest land border it isn't the longest continuous one (bloody Alaska).

That woman from westhoughton who is in tv show The Chase turned up at Barristers in town to do my mates pub quiz. Full marks unsurprisingly. Was just a one off appearance it seems.KeyserSoze wrote:Went to a pub quiz last night. We got 49/50. Still didn't win. Not cool.

haha nice. Been meaning to do that one. My mates still back home do the E&C one (most of them have either worked there or know someone who has). Seems a laugh.

Yes, he plays the music round on his piano. Sadly stepped down from Saturday night duties though.Beefheart wrote:Is it still the piano man that does it? He's grand he is. Me and my mate used to go in. Usually of our faces and request that song from Monty Python's meaning of life. great times.

It created a great atmosphere, the old fashioned knees up round the piano, which is now sadly lacking. Apparently it was doing his hands and gut no good though! I didn't help by regularly requesting Children by Robert Miles, he does a remarkable version. Does weddings and restaurant work now.KeyserSoze wrote:He's grand he is. Me and my mate used to go in. I've done a few pub quizzes in the last couple of years and I think only one of them wasn't ruined by who can find the fastest 3G connection.
and the winners are the table round the corner there!

If he saw me in there he'd play some Zappa without me even requesting it!LeverEnd wrote:It created a great atmosphere, the old fashioned knees up round the piano, which is now sadly lacking. You might have been correct if there was still a Soviet Union.Beefheart wrote:Canada/USA?KeyserSoze wrote:It was piss easy. Think the lowest score was about 44/45 or something.

Canada/USA is certainly the longest undefended continuous land border in the world. Ever since 1812, we've been a bit worried about that...

Haha! Keep meaning to listen to some more Zappa, what do you recommend for starters?
