R.I.P Mr Banjo man

Post by TANGODANCER » Mon Apr 02, 2012 12:12 am

Just read that Earl Scuggs, king of bluegrass banjo playing, passed on a couple of days ago. He was 88 and a fantastic musician. Loved his Foggy Mountain Breakdown and Orange Blossom Special, not to mention Duelling Banjos with Lester Flatt.

R.I.P Mr Banjo.

A mate of mine told me this on Sunday. I thought it was an April Fools. "Earl Scruggs?" I asked, only to be met with silence and a withering look. Somebody else at the bar interjected with some statement to the effect that he spent his early career playing with Baron 'Nads, to which my mate put down his unfinished pint and walked out. First pint of the day as well! this convinced us that he wasn't joking and that an Earl Scruggs did really exist. So R.I.P. you old twanger.
