Why not enforce the follow on? I mean they only bowled 60 overs and were nearly still 400 ahead. With rain around surely this was a nailed on 'stick em in again' time.

Very strange decision. I could only really think that maybe they want a quick 50-100 extra, little break from fielding, upset their openers a little (who probably had their pads back on) and maybe the last 30 mins at them in the dark...

Poor, odd decision. One possibly made for the sponsors more than the cricket.

My mate 'The Cynic' reckons that the only reason that Cook didn't enforce the follow-on was because he wanted a bat as he's on the tail of some or other record!

Sri Lanka beat Australia by 106 runs in Pallekele to claim only their second Test victory over the tourists, who set a Test match record in defeat.

Chasing 268 in the first Test, Australia were all out for 161, their innings finishing with a record 154 consecutive deliveries without a run.

blimey charlie!! that's very nearly 26 overs without Australia scoring a run!!

So anyway. 297 a/o. what do we think? Not outstanding but could've been a lot worse I reckon. Think that this one will probably end up being the tightest one so far.

Bit short of 340-350 which I think would've been about right. Depends on how Pakistan bat now.

Indeed. Had hoped for min of 320 missen. Good early wicket for us but these two are beginning to occupy a bit now.

Good job by the openers - deficit eliminated with no loss.

bairstow's had a thrash - building a handy lead with Moeen here... could be 300 up by close of play...
