Quite so, my point being that it should be judged on fast bowlers alone. Bad light is bad light. It's either too dark to play or it isn't. Maybe they should re-introduce "peg-legs" for spin bowlers.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 10:59 amOne hurtles a projectile at maybe 50 miles an hour the other at maybe 80-85. Much easier to try and pick the one coming at 50.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 10:48 amNot sure I see the point of bad light affecting seamers but not spin? I mean it's either light enough to play cricket or it isn't, especially on floodlit grounds. Taking into effect safety, only strengthens the point.

India are making it safe not to lose by preventing us winning, and that's what's happening. Unless we clear them off rapid now, chances of a win are disappearing by the minute. I wish it were different, but that's how it looks.

Far better to beat a good side, than trounce a bad one, and that's what we'll do if we win this. Come on....

After his dropped catches and 5 in the first innings let’s just say I don’t think Burns can be picked again if he keeps failing here. Last chance saloon for me.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
You shock me. F*ck knows who else you're picking.

Averaging 22 this summer. He’s not good enough and never has been. You are correct that we aren’t flush with options but if a 31 year old opener with no real average at test level wants to stay in they need to perform and this summer he’s been abysmal. And in the field has only compounded it.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
I'd be more than happy for him to be replaced, he's never really nailed it down but of all of them we've tried since Cook retired he's been comfortably the best for me. I like Hameed but he's far from secure. Seems a massive gamble to chop Burns with no obvious candidate.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
This pitch is flat. England’s biggest issue is left handers against Jadeja plus the issue of whether to stick or twist. A win is still very very unlikely but the ball is more than 30 overs old and no damage done. If these two survive first hour tomorrow you then have potentially quick scorers in Malan and Root to come in and a quick scoring middle order after it.
I’d make India win still favourite. Then draw. Then England win. But ten wickets aren’t going to be easy tomorrow and India bowled poorly tonight. Classic fifth day beckons.

Yes. If you look at the years averages, most of them are under 30. You could make a case for pretty much any of them to be dropped (including Buttler ) and giving Root a bye.Prufrock wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 4:46 pmI'd be more than happy for him to be replaced, he's never really nailed it down but of all of them we've tried since Cook retired he's been comfortably the best for me. I think you still have it around right, India, draw, England. But it is still a very good pitch and not an extraordinary run rate...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 6:51 pmThis pitch is flat. England have to be positive. Their best chance of a win is obviously to get a good rate (without being silly). But their best chance of not losing is also to make Kohli worry about what to do with the field.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 7:00 pmI think you still have it around right, India, draw, England. I’d say the chance of an England win is low BUT if Root got in on this wicket…I’d say the chance becomes quite high as not sure India would have a good weapon against him bar the new ball.
