International test cricket matches stop for tea, the players come in when it's raining and they stop when it starts getting dark.

I think I was a professional cricketer when I was eight.

Entirely correct.

I can't watch cricket whete top quality players thrash and flail out as their wicket isn't valuable because with only 20 overs there is no need for care and always another batsman to come in
That's before the banal music and shite associated with it.

They may as well have one over each and save some time.
And it attracts thirsty knobheads with the attention span of a gnat. I'll never forget seeing two blokes trade punches at O/T a few years back. That was me and 20/20 done with.

Ha. Mind you could be describing football.

Like any relatively new iteration of a sport 20/20 is becoming more involved tactically and can be fascinating.

It'd very much attracted a football crowd, Fella. Certainly not the sort you'd find there on the third day. It was an international against NZ. We'd put them in and they got something shit like 63, so our lot came out and simply picked them off in singles. This patient approach didn't go down at all well with those that'd simply turned up for an ale-soaked slogfest. Interesting that you say it's getting more involved tactically. More of that and less of the hot-tubs by the boundary ropes and all that other bollocks that Bobo mentions and I might give it another coat of looking at at some point.

It's hardly new. Most kids start off playing it. I know I did in the 1970's. They just repackaged it.

As to the supping, there used to be fights in the 40 over games too, because, as Brucie says, different type of crowd. This is why you can't theroretically take your own ale in anymore.

6 & out if it goes into Mrs Booth's.

6 & out if caught off the wall one-handed.

8 ball overs (Aussie overs ?) so there's less change around time.

One pad.

Chapple to take the role of head coach for the rest of the season. He might be a Yorkshireman but having spent his whole career With Lancashire I don't think there is anyone better.http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/27158767
Hopefully he carries on playing because he clearly still has the ability.

Did anyone see Chris Rogers and Middlesex successfully chase down 472 runs for the loss of just 3 wickets in the final innings at Lords against Yorkshire. It's not hard to see why Rogers (who scored 241 of those runs) has found himself a regular place in the Australian test side.

He was also top scorer at number 11 in the first innings which helped a lot.

Aye, it seems Jimmy is coming back on form. I heard today that apparently the tickets for the ODI's against Sri Lanka are going for much cheaper than the ECB because they aren't selling anywhere near as well as they hoped. Don't have official prices but was told that they will be a lot cheaper than previous summers.
