A day at a test is a leisurely affair. Where's the fun in rising at the crack of dawn?
People who have tickets and want to see cricket? TV audiences who want to see cricket?

We could just carry on pretending everything is like it was in the 1970's or we could modernise the way test cricket is organised to make sure we don't lose it all together.

I see no argument for doggedly starting at the same time when you've lost a day already. They're off for rain again now but could easily have had 2 hours interrupted play if they'd started earlier.

If test cricket is to survive they have to make the product more attractive to audiences. Speeding the game up (as in less fannying around in the field) needs to happen, as does a more flexible approach to schedule. More overs in a day. Longer days. Try to ensure that you have good 4 day competitive tests rather than either a 2/3 day whitewash or a 5 day 50000000 runs borefest.

Oh and here's another cracker. Play due to resume at 12:45 with lunch at 13:45.

HAVE LUNCH NOW YOU MORONS.

Makes me so angry that test cricket is essentially killing itself over such basic and obvious and simple things.

Ah!

Now comes a reasoned argument, well worth consideration.

Now it isn't raining but the umpires are stood on the pitch umming and arring.

Get play on FFS. Crowd booing. This is why test cricket will die. Nonsense like this. People have paid a fortune to watch a days cricket. Not to see two umpires worried that it might rain again in 15 minutes.

Think that may have been a good toss to win, anyway! Though a shame Kohli want one of them.

England 89-4 in this morning's seesion. Pitch and the ether look to be pulling a few tricks as Root went L.B.W to a low "skidder" apparently. Pope went the same way with a mover...We need to lockdown a bit and still get the runs.
