Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
I can't see England getting 100 runs here. If Root is out without many then reduce that to 50.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
He's soft in the head. Can't play against anything other than straight bowling. Pre-meditated sweep he was lucky to get away with, then a "defence" you could've driven a coach and horses through.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 11:08 amBairstow has hardly played test cricket for a while and when he did he looked awful. Bringing him in cold gets you this. But lets face it on this surface England are dead in the water. They can't cope with this.
Strauss I think at tea saying India have cocked this up because the pitch is so bad it's basically a lottery. I think that will make the game closer, but 33 lead looks huge rn.
Basically all on Root. I'd also be giving stokes licence to go out and attack. Even 3 overs if he gets away with it could double our likely score!

I think England have two chances - zip and none. 33 on this for England is like 150 on a normal pitch. The problem is not the huge spin its that sometimes it turns square and other times it stays straight.Prufrock wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 11:17 amHe's soft in the head. In fairness - your starting point for most things are "zip and none" Let's see how it pans out. A lead of 100 doesn't look like a gimmie, given the pitch might start to take spin, later in the match

Feels like the outcome is down to these two - Root and Stokes...3 down.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
The trouble for England is they have two spinners and neither are top front line options. Yes they've taken wickets but bowling India out in a chase for say 80 (which looks optimistic) is a different scenario. Imagine England with Swann on this pitch - 80 could be enough.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 11:33 amIn fairness - your starting point for most things are "zip and none" Let's see how it pans out. They took 9-62 between them in the first innings...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 11:41 amThe trouble for England is they have two spinners and neither are top front line options. Sure - I just think a low target is different if someone gets at them, but we''ll see. Got to give them something to bowl at first.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 11:43 amThey took 9-62 between them in the first innings...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 11:41 amThe trouble for England is they have two spinners and neither are top front line options. Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Of course it is. Chasing under 100 can come up without loss when the last 3 innings have averaged just over 100-150...More often than not, it does, but they've made this such a lottery of a pitch...Who knows.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Ooof for me Root has got away with that.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Yeeesh. Reviewed more in hope than judgement, Root didn't think he'd hit it. One of the closest one every seen, still not sure it's right, but not out! I don't think he hit it!

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
I was hoping they'd go with benefit of the doubt...When they have to spin it forwards 98 times, then surely there's plenty of doubt there.
I would of course argue entirely the other way, with ball in hand.

Stokes gone to Ashwin which was predictable. Pope and Foakes need to get 20/30 each to keep England in this. Can't see much from the tail.

Edit: I'd have probably reviewed that dismissal of Stokes, just because...
