Well in, Saqib Mahmood. Off the mark at last.
We're probably going to need 400 in the second to ensure a draw!

Script is a simple one. Braithwaite keeps focused and hopes the runs build without much loss. If so, there may come a point where he'll gamble for the win. If not, safety first and a draw. Come on Joe, you can do this.. :oyea:

86-4. Time marches on. Crowd sing Sweet Caroline, but I think it has to be a draw..?

Yeah, draw was always likely given first three/four days....Some criticism for Root not setting a more generous target, but to be honest, I'm not sure I'd have wanted to either...I suspect there's been a lot more test matches lost when a side's been chasing 210/220 than chasing 280...

A draw seemed right and fair to me. Both sides did their best and ended up shaking hands at the end. Must have been entertaining enough for the crowds and Thursday should be a good test.

Stokes just thrown his wicket away in one of the most ridiculous manners I can remember. It’s test match Ben. Test match. Not the last over of a t20.

Not to mention day one of a test match and we are 3 down for 50 odd. I do wonder what goes through their heads.

We're 69-7 right now and looking pretty sad.

A - mazing...Tail enders ( 9 and 10)put on 90 between them to drag a wrecked England back from the jaws of a trouncing by the Windies. 204 all out right at the close of play. Jack Leach never ceases to amaze with his versatility. The chase is on Watson.. :D ....

Per BBC the best 10 and 11 scores since the 19th century. Not ideal mind.

I followed the game right through the day via B.B.C text commentary. As it went on the entertainment level was great. By the end I was cheering our tail-end heroes. :oyea:

Not sure I've ever seen a 'reverse order' scorecard quite like it?!

You know I’m beginning to think it wasn’t a good idea to leave out the best new ball bowlers in world cricket to see what ‘some others could do’. Maybe it’s just me. But favourable pitch for bowlers with the new ball and we’ve bowled absolute garbage for most of the opening 15 overs.

Like the B.B.C commentator pointed out, three of our best bowlers are missing, and that's not counting Broad and Anderson, what side could expect miracles under that burden? We're not dead yet...

And suddenly it's 71 - 3 at lunch and we're back in it.. :oyea:

It's not quite the same as say, Bolton picking up injuries. They can add to the squad for injured players. It only takes a few hours to fly to West Indies....
