Amongst it all, can I just remind the jury we've just pulled off an incredible, almost impossible victory against one of the world's best sides? Just saying like.. :D

I wonder how many players who we’ve discarded over the last few years would thrive in this new setup? I can certainly see it suiting Moeen.
I can't see us going back to Moeen right now at 34. Nor do I think we should after two chases of 270+...

People not "in" will need to wait for failure...Only one I think currently with a big question mark is Crawley
I half wondered if Stokes was injured whether we’d put Crawley down the order and try a different opener. McCullum believes in giving people a lot of chances so people say.

As for Moeen we are desperate for a better spinner and he is better than Leach. I’d have him back personally. Don’t care that he’s 34 he’s simply more likely to get wickets.
Doesn't sound like Stokes is badly injured.

I'm not sure too many stats support the contention that Moeen is a better bowler than Leech (unless you counting his bowling average being larger as "better" :-) ). His econ is a run an over adrift - so he causes less pressure and his strike rate, whilst being slightly better overall, hasn't seen South of 80 for a while...

I think he’s more of a wicket threat. Granted he also gives more runs away but I think he is more likely to nab a few. He also helps our tail which is too long.

And I’d say that he’s a case of how would a player like him who clearly was underperforming with the last setup do in this one? Someone like Bairstow suddenly looks electric. Moeen would for me help in a few ways.

His style also fits with the Stokes/B Mc era.

Leach just isn't up to it for me. My next step would be to give a proper go to Parkinson. Would pick Moeen as a second spinner in the subcontinent, or as a backup if Parky doesn't cut it. Not convinced by him as a spinner, but if we're going to have a crap one they might as well be able to bat a bit.

Liked Potts by the way. Hopefully we never see Overton again.

He's still a centrally contracted player - so it's possible. The things about averages, is they sort of demonstrate whether someone is more likely to nab a wicket....Tail, I think, is a different issue and yes, he'd help there.

We've no idea whether players were underperforming in the last setup, or whether they'd gone off the boil anyway for any one of a shedload of reasons. So over time, they'll probably get a chance. I don't think right now, I'd be contemplating replacing anyone (with the possible exception of Crawley).

Of preference, I'd give Parky a go.

Oh yeah for sure. Parky needs a proper go. I don’t rate Leach but we do need to try a few things. Was musing on Moeen as he fills a gap we’ve got in terms of an all rounder and also spin is the area we are weakest in. And he’s worked under Brendan before.

But we will see. I certainly don’t expect many changes immediately. And Crawley will be given more time. But I do think he isn’t and won’t be a test opener.

Overton's on a central "pace bowling development" contract....so bit like me assuming Moeen was yesterday's news, I suspect they're going to keep anyone on a central contract somewhere near?

England Men's Central Contracts: Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Jonathan Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Rory Burns, Jos Buttler, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Jack Leach, Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan, Ollie Pope, Adil Rashid, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.

Increment contracts: Dom Bess, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone.

Pace bowling development contracts: Saqib Mahmood, Craig Overton, Olly Stone.

Could we be in world record territory here against Netherlands?

Actually, probably not. I’d forgotten about our daft 481 a few years ago. The old 439 is likely to be under threat though

Wouldn’t rule out 481. 447 with 3 and a bit to go. And livingstone is smashing it round the park with Buttler now.

Remarkable Buttler has 147 off 61. Unbelievable.

He knew it too. And hence just missed out trying to overhit.

Still. Englands fastest ever ODI 50.

Remarkable stuff here.

Absolutely.

A 17-ball fifty - enough to sit joint-second in the record books.

Buttler now has 3 of the 10 fastest ODI tons of all time too. Before buttler got going the world record seemed impossible, yet we’re going to absolutely piss it.
