Yeah, looks like it's up to these two to slog it as long as possible and then if needed for Foakes to bat with the tail.
Broad will be out immediately thinking he's Stokes though.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
For me if Bairstow plays low risk cricket we win this. He’s keeping going and we might win anyway. Normally I’d say just keep hitting it. Stokes being injured changes that a bit as I’d worry about singles with the tail.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Tough to say to Jonny to stop when he's seeing it like this. Would be classic him to get some through the gate trying to defend. With a fit Stokes I'd agree for him but I don't think he can run. Got to just ride this train. I'd maybe stop taking on the leg side boundary though. There's plenty runs otherwise. Get one of those wrong and you're out, no leeway.

Incredible. You have to ask what the hell was going on before this. One test win in 17 matches.
Now we have won two in two against one of the best test teams going, the world champions non the less.
And we’ve done it in spectacular fashion with what could be the greatest chase ever. 300 on day five with less than half the first session left must be pretty unheard of.
It must have been a very unhappy camp. I knew Silverwood was a waste of skin nut never thought we’d see anything like this. A turnaround one could not have possibly foreseen. Moeen Ali wants back in too. Mood has completely changed.

Wow. Two chases in the 4th over 270. That's some going.
Brilliant by most of the batsmen at various points.....All fired.

Bairstow's innings needs context. 2nd fastest for England, ahead of Botham x 2; KP x 1 and Stokes x 1. Only 6 in under 100 balls. Immense. Will be watching again on today at the test...

We just kept hitting. Which is unbelievable in a test match on day 5. I’ve seen some knocks I’m not sure I’ve seen a better one of the type Bairstow just played.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 5:47 pmRight here sir, right here.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 2:13 pmYeah not looking too clever this. And he went slow at start. Imagine if before tea he’d done at just a marginally faster rate this would have smashed the previous record.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 6:27 pmBairstow's innings needs context. 2nd fastest for England, ahead of Botham x 2; KP x 1 and Stokes x 1. I'm just tuning to Today a the Test because I followed the B.B.C Text commentary right through. People like Alaistair Cook and Phil Tufffnell were in absolute awe of it all. Of course it will only last till we lose, then we'll be rubbish again..

I wonder how many players who we’ve discarded over the last few years would thrive in this new setup? I can certainly see it suiting Moeen.

Incredible.
I wonder how often a team has scored more than 550 in their first innings and lost?

I can't see us going back to Moeen right now at 34. Nor do I think we should after two chases of 270+...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 7:44 pmI wonder how many players who we’ve discarded over the last few years would thrive in this new setup? I can certainly see it suiting Moeen.
People not "in" will need to wait for failure...Only one I think currently with a big question mark is Crawley

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
I half wondered if Stokes was injured whether we’d put Crawley down the order and try a different opener. McCullum believes in giving people a lot of chances so people say.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 8:31 pmI can't see us going back to Moeen right now at 34. As for Moeen we are desperate for a better spinner and he is better than Leach. I’d have him back personally. Don’t care that he’s 34 he’s simply more likely to get wickets.

I can't see any justification for picking Crawley currently, to be honest.
