What our newshounds told us was that women wearing the 'burkini' incited the local yahoos to violence against said wearers and their male friends. The ban was to prevent unruly behaviou rather than bombers. At Rio some emirates beach volleyball team wore them to some protests. Such a tolerant world we live in.

I would have thought the it might be better to apply the law against those who would attack someone because of their dress-habits rather than direct the law against those who might be attacked... still - this is the french interpretation of secularism... it's their country...
