No. No it's a bun.PC1978 wrote:Hot dog bread is a finger
This is a finger
Or a long thin biscuit wrapped in chocolate - that's a finger.
Or a finger of Fudge (is just enough to give your kids a treat) - that's a finger
That's not a leopard!

Ok, go into a chippy in Bolton and ask for a chip muffin......I dares you.....
Barm is right.
Bap is acceptable.
Muffin is a particular type of bread that is nice lightly toasted with honey on (distinct from a crumpet).

Oh no, don't start on crumpets - my mother insists they're called pikelets.BWFC_Insane wrote:Ok, go into a chippy in Bolton and ask for a chip muffin......I dares you.....

pikelets are thinner/flatter versions of the crumpet.

When I'm outside of the northwest I tend to ask for a roll as it's pretty much universal, as in soup and a roll.Gary the Enfield wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:It's a cob. A cob I tell ye.CrazyHorse wrote:Muffin is what lesbians do. It's a barm.
Any room for a roll?

Re: The Wanderer; A Thesaurus
See, nothing from the bread family should be lightly toasted with honey. Wrong on so many levels. Butter, jam, marmalade...any of those are fine. For crumpets I suggest crumpet pizza. Brilliant for hangovers and dead easy to make - they sound wrong, but everyone I've introduced to them has loved them.BWFC_Insane wrote:Ok, go into a chippy in Bolton and ask for a chip muffin......I dares you.....

Here's what you do...PC1978 wrote: Crumpet pizza sounds very interesting.
Lightly toast the crumpet so you get it warmed through. For the tomato sauce use some pasata, dried oregano and garlic to taste and season. Spoon it on top of the warm crumpet (be generous). Sprinkle grated cheese of your choice (be generous). Grill until the cheese is nice and gooey and a little brown then eat. Adding pepperoni or salami or bacon is even better. Fantastic for breakfast after a good session the night before

Is pasata the same as tomato puree?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Here's what you do...PC1978 wrote: Crumpet pizza sounds very interesting.

No. It is sieved tomatoes. You'll find it near the tinned tomatoes and tomato puree. They do fancy ones with stuff in but just the plain one is best. If you use puree you'll get quite a bitter strong taste. The pasata is much fresher tasting. I recommend plenty of garlic in it, but not everyone likes as much as me. Just experiment with it. Thye most important element is getting the crumpet hot before adding the toppings. Otherwise you end up with a cold middle.PC1978 wrote:Is pasata the same as tomato puree?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Here's what you do...PC1978 wrote: Crumpet pizza sounds very interesting.
