Sad to hear Manu Mystry succumbed to Corona virus and died yesterday. A decent bloke from a nice family who have been neighbours to us for many years..
Manu ran a printing business from the old King Bill pub on Manchester Road, opposite Burnden. R.I.P Manu.

Did he have a club on Derby Street at one time? Can’t remember the name of it for the life of me.

Quite possibly. Organised a Christmas do there and had a meal or 2 there, 15 or so years ago. Had a few dealings with Manu at the time. Came across as a really nice bloke. RIP

75 years ago today since the Burnden Park disaster in which 33 faithful lost their lives. May God remember and bless them.

Mine too. Possibly the GOAT.
I thought he may have been older than 66. Some rumours on twitter were suggesting it was related to his covid jab.

Murray Walker yesterday. A voice that instantly takes me back to my childhood and watching the Grand Prix with my dad on a Sunday afternoon.

GOAT? Perhaps of his generation. He won 62 of 67 fights, but Sugar Ray Robinson win 132 fights until his first loss (to our own Randolph Turpin) and finished with 173 wins. Over the years he was champion in several division, though he drew the line at fighting Marciano for the heavyweight championship. As a middleweight he was in a class of his own.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 4:08 pmMine too. Possibly the GOAT.

Of course for me, Ali will always be the greatest....

Well I did say possibly but his record stands up to scrutiny. His only losses were all controversial points defeats. He fought at a time when his weight division was packed full of world class fighters and he dominated them all. Unlike Ali, who everyone loved, he knew when to quit too.

Well, Floyd Mayweather didn't agree with me about Ali! I'd have to put Joe Louis on the list, though I never saw him box. Like Ali he lost his best years to the war.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 4:42 pmWell I did say possibly but his record stands up to scrutiny.
