Not at all, Sir. I just thought that it would have to take something pretty special to blag you, and it did, and this fella managed it with added purchase.Worthy4England wrote:Are you suggesting I have short arms and deep pockets Mr Rioja?Bruce Rioja wrote:I didn't think it possible for this chap to be able to rise further in my estimation, but he just has.Worthy4England wrote:Not sure where the stories came from, he was pretty well read though.Bruce Rioja wrote:

Hook, line and sinker.
And everyone else who was at the funeral too, including his best mate.
Sometimes you just have to take yer hat off and acknowledge a thing of beauty for what it is. I've been sniggering all day. Even when he was plastered, never let it slip.

Iain Banks dies at age 59.
Presumably Iain M. Banks has died too.
I haven't read too much of his having fallen out with SF some 25 years ago. I tried some of his main stream novels over the years but could never quite get a grip of them, but my wife thought him marvellous.

I loved The Wasp Factory. Was a nice story bout, after it came out he was terminal, someone wrote him a letter about how much his books meant and so he wrote to all his heroes to let them know too. RIP

Not a famous person but my uncle died last night. He was the reason I am a Bolton supporter. He first took me and my cousin in the mid 1970's and a number of games during the 77-78 promotional season.
We went to the Reebok stadium together for the first 12 seasons until he became ill a couple of years ago.
Sad day.
