Re: The Wanderer fantasy football
subs?? how does that work? do you change them during a game??? or do they act as free transfers when someone is injured?
Re: The Wanderer fantasy football
The latter. Also if your best striker will be playing top of the league, and your sub bottom you can swap. Over-complicates it IMO, requires more time and constant checking.

ahhh - right - so allows for some jiggery-pokery in between games without using up transfers... i see!Prufrock wrote:The latter. Also if your best striker will be playing top of the league, and your sub bottom you can swap. Over-complicates it IMO, requires more time and constant checking.
i preferred it when you could just pick 11 and forget about it until august - i guess you can still do that - except you'd know that pru-tinkerman would be fiddling with his subs day-by-day!
will it be obvious how to make a substitution?

Re: The Wanderer fantasy football
Ha, no I started doing the Prem one last year which worked like that. Did OK for a few weeks then forgot about it and came back to find I was fooked.thebish wrote:ahhh - right - so allows for some jiggery-pokery in between games without using up transfers... i see!Prufrock wrote:The latter. And I dunno about subs. Looks like the same skin as the PL one where you could just click and drag. Guessing you can't yet because teams aren't finalised.
That or maybe you can't do subs and you sub *only* plays if one of your starters doesn't.

I've read the rules, and my interpretation of subs is completely different to the explanation posited above ^

Re: The Wanderer fantasy football
Right to summarise:
If a player is on the bench he does not score you any points, even if he does in fact play for his team
the whole point of the sub is that if you find out just before kick off that one of your starting 11 isn't playing/ is injured you can swap him with a sub without having to use up one of your 5 monthly transfers.
Crucially you can use this to your advantage even further for example on Friday you could have Adam Le Fondre(Cardiff striker) start for Cardiff against Blackburn, then on Saturday morning sub him for Ross McCormack(Fulham striker, who was on your bench). If both of these players score they will both score you points if you make the substitution at the right time. This means it is possible to score points of 14 players instead of 11 if you make substitutions at the right time, by using televised games(and the change in kick off times they bring) to your advantage
So basically if your clever you can score points off 14 players in one weekend Instead of 11 without using up any of your transfers.

Re: The Wanderer fantasy football
They're four players who cost you money. Your team isn't complete without them, but if you splash loads'adosh on them you'll need the brain the size of a small planet to reap rewards. Me, personally, I've bought four players for tuppence ha'penny each and Dougie-wise splashed the rest of the cash on the 11 who'll play. I shall track the first month to see if this tactic outshines buying four players for £44,000 in the hope one of your other players is knackered.

Re: The Wanderer fantasy football
Reading the rules I think I was right first time. I get to use 13 players this week providing I remember to do subs before tomorrow, which is stupid.
