Re: The Weather
Same here. I've dismantled the garden furniture (not that it's had much use lately) today, just in case.

Re: The Weather
It certainly felt a tad windy coming in to land at Liverpool late last night! Mind you, at least I got home. The Manchester Ryanair flight was cancelled. Passengers were told they could fly to Manchester on Thursday or jump onto a Newquay or Aberdeen flight later today.......and make their own way home......
On the other hand, it was 28 degrees in Faro

Re: The Weather
Some time tonight Montreal is to be hit by a cyclogenesis, or massive weather bomb. I gather that in the following 24 hours in addition to high winds we will get 5 inches of rain. That's a lot even by Lancashire standards. The wind will blow all remaining leaves off the trees, blocking the sewers. 'Mild' flooding is anticipated. I know climate change is a hoax, a Chinese plot, the President said so, but we are getting more frequent weather anomalies lately.

In the not-too-far-distant future, when Kim Jong-un rules the world, you'll regret those words. Chinese plot, pah! Everyone knows it's the DPRK's plot.Montreal Wanderer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2017 2:06 pmSome time tonight Montreal is to be hit by a cyclogenesis, or massive weather bomb. Supposedly Snowpocalypse here today. Boringly just half an inch deposited. Even so, just had to 'rescue' a pair of students driving a mini uphill...

I've got a min/max thermometer nailed to my bird table. It shows -15ºC for last night, minus fifteen!

Here's a bit o' summat that I didn't know until this morning. Did you know that it's illegal to drive with snow on your car? I've been doing it for over 30 years.
£60 fine and three points apparently.

-15ºC sounds nice. We just got a weather warning. Today it goes down to -42ºC . https://www.google.org/publicalerts/ale ... e=wweather On the bright side this is thought to be a record so it should warm up soon to a balmy -20.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 10:40 amI've got a min/max thermometer nailed to my bird table. And stop moaning, there are some towns in Siberia where they have -42 as their average throughout winter. Residents there don't turn off their car engines from November through to March for fear they'll never get them started again.

Re: The Weather
This morning woke up to frost, then there was a heavy flurry of snowflakes for half-an-hour. It rained on top of it and we were walking in an inch of real slush. Now it's absolutely pxssing down. All that's perfectly bad weather enough for me thank you.

Re: The Weather
Approach road to village above Chamonix, where my friend's ski chalet is, is breathtaking - it's a valley of snow where the ploughs have been - sheer sides of snow, twenty feet deep with little tunnels cut through every now and then to the houses and chalets beyond.
Never seen it like this before. Stunning.

Re: The Weather
It's a bit odd here. -42ºC a week ago and +10ºC today. Quite a shift in a few days. Major snow warning for the weekend.
