It is pissing down right now. We've got floods of Biblical proportions and I'm in the hills... Gawd knows what it must be like down on the plains.

Horay proper weather is here all that sun we have had over the last 6 months was making me not want to go outside, I am delighted to know we will now have at least 6 months of rain, snow and bitter cold conditions. @Itsalwaysthehotcountriesthatkickoff.

Not raining this minute, but it'll be back. Back garden resembles a paddy field.

You want to tell those Chinese neighbours of yours to stick to their own back garden.

That happened at ours last week. I was harrumphing until it went really cold last night. You can't win, don't even try.

Winning isn't even remotely on the agenda. Survival is. I don't mind if the temperature is reading about the same in fahrenheit and celsius (-40) and a vicious wind is whistling through my eaves, but this is still autumnal. When the 20 togger is on I find myself surfacing every hour or so out of a pool of my own sauna rendered juices, gasping for air. Sometimes the dog throws herself on top and the extra radiant heat actually cooks one or other of my internal organs. I have to have a strategy of lying awake until Mrs Leopard starts snoring and then gently ease the killer duvet down to about waist level, after which one of two things happens, either: she wakes up, and the cycle is repeated; or we sleep through and awaken to our upper bodies rhymed in frost and our legs welded together like sticky pork crackling. Every year I have to undergo this torture, and the struggle to survive grows harder, I tell ye.

The first bit sounds eerily familiar! I have a bed sheet that I keep at the side of the bed for just such emergencies. You should try it.

aye - is fine down here - but am hearing loads of endless whining on the radio by people in scotland and the north where it's a bit gusty - and on the East coast where it's a bit blowy and might be a bit floody. bloody southern-biased media..

Wind's strong enough to do some damage here, bending the trees a bit fierce and making the fencing rattle.. I'm thinking anything of any size on the motorways will have problems. Oh, and it's raining in sympathy.
