Re: The Christmas thread
I've done some quizzes, dingbats, numbers quiz. eg '7 D of the W' = 7 Days of the Week' etc. That sort of thing, but a bit more tricky than that, obviously.89bwfc89 wrote:We're hosting Christmas this year, I need some good games to play!
Suggestions?
If you still need something, drop me a PM and I can let you have a copy.

Card on the head. Played sat down and doesn't expend much energy and let's you carry on drinking whilst playing.

My relaxing three weeks off is suddenly being overcome with "you need to be here, then" things.

schoolboy error - letting it be widely known that you were having several weeks off!Worthy4England wrote:Tell me about it. Same here.Bruce Rioja wrote:My relaxing three weeks off is suddenly being overcome with "you need to be here, then" things.

Was reading a thread on another forum abour folk who spend christmas alone. makes quite interesting reading, surprising how many who do. many of them seem to enjoy it. cant imagine i would tbh, especially now with the little ones knocking about, but i would love to be allowed out the bike for a few hours!

It isn't being anti-social or anything General. More of having been there, done it, enjoyed it all and are content to sit back and relax while the kids and grandkids have their turn.General Mannerheim wrote:Was reading a thread on another forum abour folk who spend christmas alone. makes quite interesting reading, surprising how many who do. many of them seem to enjoy it. cant imagine i would tbh, especially now with the little ones knocking about, but i would love to be allowed out the bike for a few hours!

Re: The Christmas thread
they were all different shapes & sizes situations. one fella never married always spent xmas with his mum & dad who both died this year. other people are divorced and have an alternative xmas with their kids on another day, spend xmas day on their tod. and some have declined invitations to friends/families because they just prefer to be alone...

There are many different circumstances which, unless we have experienced them, we will view from our own perspective not that of the person involved.General Mannerheim wrote:they were all different shapes & sizes situations. one fella never married always spent xmas with his mum & dad who both died this year. other people are divorced and have an alternative xmas with their kids on another day, spend xmas day on their tod. and some have declined invitations to friends/families because they just prefer to be alone...
The time this hit home to me was when one year I had nowhere to go at New Year and I was obsessed by it and wanted desperately to go somewhere and felt I was really missing out. A few years later, kids and all that and I was utterly happy to simply sit in and watch Jools' October recording of hootenanny.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The Christmas thread
If you drink wine and wine only you should be alright, Chief. At my mate's wedding the other week we went from Champangne, on to Bank Top ale and then on to red wine - that was a recipe for disaster. Thing is, it's our Christmas bash tomorrow night and I know that I'll end up doing pretty much the same.General Mannerheim wrote:what a result! breakfast in bed.mrkint wrote:woke up with a maccy's cheeseburger on my chest this morning.

I can do wine, then beer.. But not the other way round. Finishing on wine is a killerBruce Rioja wrote:If you drink wine and wine only you should be alright, Chief. Re: The Christmas thread
My theory is that if you do that, you drink wine at the same speed you were drinking beer.

Indeed. I like to spend the day surrounded by family and the rug rats, but then an evening of quiet reflection and contemplation on my own.General Mannerheim wrote:they were all different shapes & sizes situations. one fella never married always spent xmas with his mum & dad who both died this year. other people are divorced and have an alternative xmas with their kids on another day, spend xmas day on their tod. and some have declined invitations to friends/families because they just prefer to be alone...
