The Ryder Cup
Not long now. No Luke Donald but Gallacher, Westwood and Poulter for wildcards and a couple I have to confess I've never heard of...well not in a sense I can recall seeing them play. The French fella, Dubuisson and the Welsh bloke Jamie Donaldson.
Not sure how confident I feel about this one...

Re: The Ryder Cup
Dubuisson did well in the Open and the PGA. I can't recall seeing much of Donaldson - but I guess he did well in the numbers game for automatic selection. I doubt the Americans feel that confident since it is at Gleneagles. Keegan Bradley, Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson are the US wildcards.Worthy4England wrote:Not long now. ??? Are they all double barrelled . Not a properproper first name between them.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Keegan Bradley, Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson are the US wildcards.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I suspect Keegan is an Irish forename but the others appear to be surnames. They also have a Bubba - no idea what that might be.bobo the clown wrote:??? Are they all double barrelled . Re: The Ryder Cup
Think we have quite a few players going into this not in the best of form. Should be interesting. Poulter's playing shite but is simply a different player in the RC. Still, who's to say the opposite won't become of Gallacher?! Donaldson must be gutted, it must've been a tight call between him and Westwood. A lot depends on McIlroy.

Guess Miguel Angel's not right on his game at the moment? Pity, I always like to see him in there.

Was only leg pulling. Had to rattle through a load of lawyer speak in London today, to make sure they didn't try and keep me there 'til tomorrow...mission accomplished.

DJ's alleged drug problems have never been confirmed. All I know is he married the Great One's daughter and is now expecting a child. That could stress anyone out.Dr Hotdog wrote:would have been more confident of a USA win had DJ not been a naughty boy and Tom Watson not played it 'safe' with the Webb Simpson pick.

I reckon 2 1/2 v 1 1/2 to Europe after the morning sesh.
Our two, Rose & Poults
Their one, Fowler.
Really can't call the last one, so I went for a half.

Re: The Ryder Cup
You can never counter Kaymer out if he's on form - granted Fowler has done well in majors. You never can tell with Bubba either. I'll wait and watch before predicting anything. I'd like to hear the banter between Rory and Phil....Worthy4England wrote:I reckon 2 1/2 v 1 1/2 to Europe after the morning sesh.

Re: The Ryder Cup
I like Captain Watson's idea of blooding the rookies in Fourballs so they all hit tee shots, approaches and potentially birdie putts. Fowler and Walker will walk their match, 4&3 I reckon. Kaymer hasn't hit a barn door since Pinehurst and Bjorn hasn't got the bottle under pressure (see Wentworth in May).
We're gonna have Victor and Donaldson make their bow in the Foursomes Friday - if they play at all tomorrow. A tough ask for those lads. I wouldn't play Westwood in Foursomes either, these days. The Ryder Cup is won on the greens, and yet Westwood got the nod over Donald. It continues to make no sense to me!
Mickelson's jibe at the N.Irish pair made me chuckle all afternoon yesterday. I like Phil.
I guess I just don't want Tommy Watson to lose, to make up for Turnberry in '09. Sorry gang!

Monty, that's one of the most fence-sittingist posts I've ever encountered. I think broadly you're saying anyone could win any game. Which is absolutely correct but not much fun.Montreal Wanderer wrote:You can never counter Kaymer out if he's on form - granted Fowler has done well in majors. You never can tell with Bubba either. A fair comment indeed. I'm in a confused state.
