Re: what's in your stash??
Got all the normal festive presents: After shave and Lynxy stuff, box of Turkish delight, box of Milk Tray, New mug, pair of very comfortable slippers, nice bottle of Spanish sherry etc, and a completely unexpected Kobo E Reader with a 1000 book capacity. A plus also was a friend lending me Lee Child's latest book unread by her as yet. Had a great time at relations, superb Christmas dinner, drinks and some good company. Very satisfactory all round. Got fierce indigestion now of course, but that's to be expected as all part of the game...

Yes of course, Hoboh. A quick flick through and there look to be some good ones from some serious heads of state etc.Hoboh wrote:I hope you will enlighten us with the better ones Bruce.Bruce Rioja wrote:Really looking forward to reading F**k You and Goodbye by Matt Porter. Re: what's in your stash??
I have been diligently discouraging my children from buying me presents of any kind for any reason. They were doing pretty well until yesterday. Daughter dear bought me two pairs of socks but hid within them a 'gift voucher' from Dymocks, a local and venerable book store. Son gifted me with something similar but from an electronic/music type store.
The piece de resistance though was the brain child of my daughter-in-law and executed by her and her husband. Obviously they are well aware of my foibles. It consists of a plastic money box which is round and has a clear plastic front with the words 'IN CASE OF EMERGENCY BREAK GLASS' printed upon it. The case moulding has a flat bottom to allow the unit to stand upright with the front vertical and is about 115mm high (that's about 4½"). Pretty mundane? Certainly - but they added a twist. The back of the money box is removable so they mounted inside, with the aid of a bit of Blue-Tak (TM), a wee, wee, bottle of Johnny Walker (TM) whisky and a single cigarette.

Re: what's in your stash??
You had me puzzled, KeyserSoze. A quick check on the Internet sorted out that though. Where I live this is a Jaffa cake http://www.womansday.com.au/food/recipe ... affa-cake/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which made me wonder what a yard of it would look like.
NOTE: If you bother with the link then the orange things on top of the cake and around the base are Jaffas. A Jaffa, a trade name, is an orange coloured spherical sweet with a chocolate (I think - it's been a long time since I had one) centre.

Bryson's The Road to Little Dribbling, and I Am Malala. Also a book entitled The Art of Running Faster, so someone's been clocking my times, clearly

Re: what's in your stash??
Couple of bottles of wine, bottle of Sol Spanish brandy, New beard trimmer, Calender and Diary of Ireland, box of 24 top class Derwent sketching pencils (and two pads of good watercolour paper I treated myself to) the Len Goodman dance book I had to put away till the day and various shared items from family etc. Plenty good food and drink and all the trimmings and I'm expecting a Super Whites win today.. What more can a man want?
