Apologies for pointing out the inconsistencies here, but you're on the side of free speech, right?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Al Jazeera - in America - have a name for doing news that is comparatively stripped of "opinion/editorial" - unlike fox and NB-blah-blah whatever the letters are! but there is very limited appetite for straight news - people seem to want editorialised news that tells them what to think about a particular event...

You mean like that guy on Fox who said we have Muslim police in the UK that beat people for not dressing appropriately, and that Birmingham is now 100% muslim?

The first bit is almost true, they do abuse people, in particular females (no surprise there) the second part is ludicrous, ten years too early.

Has anybody on here looked up the original cartoon that caused outrage and riots and lynchings to, by and from millions of Muslims worldwide?
Don't worry I'll not copy or link it - that'll just hamper the point I'm making.
Basically it was a bearded face surmounted with a turban that morphed into a Dandy comic like round black bomb with a fuse.
I mean, fxking hell hey, how anodyne can you get? that's worth killing, and rioting for. (oh yea, it had that shield that in Arabic means 'peace be upon him'). Now that was funny.
That's not a leopard!

They showed a news opinion show which showed a not completely unbalanced view

It showed the solidarity emonstrations and did not justify the killings. It was however critical of Charlie Hebdo,
"If you cannot answer a man's argument, all it not lost; you can still call him vile names. " Elbert Hubbard.

Not as funny as Charlie is Mr Sheen.

I seem to remember seeing it and I don't recall finding it that clever or hilarious (although I get the gag was a play on the phrase 'peace be upon him' and that the target was f-witted fundamentalists). A soon forgotten, formulaic cartoon is not worth a death sentence though, no matter what the subject is.

I saw it. And I thought that those that got all mardy-arsed about it proved the very point that the cartoonist was making in the first place.

I'm not astonished
I think you might be on to something!
