England beat the much-fancied Ireland and wales have Halfenny stretchered off - he'll be a loss for them if he's ruled out...

Hardly a vintage performance V the Oirish, but an improvement from France.

the pack will have to step up their game a couple of notches... having halfpenny out of Wales (possibly) helps our chances of getting beyond the group stages!
Re: Rugby World Cup 2015
Halfpenny is out, he has damaged his acl. The Welsh are near suicidal.
Beat the best team in the northern hemisphere, still not perfect but an improvement. May is backing himself and looks dangerous. The line out operated better and the scrum will improve.
Parling did well and may get a starting spot but I think he fancies Launchbury and Lawes and I can see Billy coming in for Morgan.
Bring on the Fijians.

The Welsh have had a double cruel blow, the world class Leigh Halfpenny out along with scrum half Rhys Webb will miss the World Cup.
If the Welsh weren't in our group I could probably conjure up some sympathy.

I'd rather we beat them at full strength, but I'd equally settle for a win any old way against whatever they can put in front of us.
8 years of having a Welsh coach, in the 70's "golden years" does that to a chap.
Re: Rugby World Cup 2015
Exactly, their injury problems are their own not ours. F@@k em.

Do they still raise a round of applause when someone boots it into the stand?
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: Rugby World Cup 2015
aye - if done well and gaining many, many yards of useful territory, pinning the welsh back in their own 22...Bruce Rioja wrote:Do they still raise a round of applause when someone boots it into the stand?

Re: Rugby World Cup 2015
The team against Fiji has been announced and it's the same starting 15 as against Ireland. The surprise is Burgess being on the bench in front of Slade. Seeing as Farrell is the creative option, let's hope we won't be chasing the game.
We should have more than enough to see off Fiji and we can be certain of that by grinding them into the ground with the set pieces. We should dominate them in the scrum and lineout, it's in the loose where they can surprise us. So keep it simple and a good win to start us off

Ashton, then so promising but his defence let him down.
We didn't have a problem picking the French based players then.
Our optimism has been tempered since then but this is a World Cup and we are the home nation. We can win it

I so hope we are disrespectful enough to do this on the day...

I'm quite looking forward to the Fiji game on Friday, though I do have a real soft spot for Fiji, having seen them play at Spotland last time.
The game against the Taffs however will be taken in in a bar in Marbella.
May the bridges I burn light your way
