Oh what a crazy game. Westwood chips in and goes to 3 under, Spieth blows it and goes from 6 under to 1 under. Willet leads on 4 under...wow...

Well, that 20 minutes just typifies Westwood's career in majors. Hole out the most unlikely pitch for eagle and then fats a 170 yard iron shot on the Par-3 and then three-putts.

He'll never do it.

About sums it up Doc. Shame, but I think you're right. Two under par for four rounds of Augusta surely ain't bad though.

But it ain't good enough.

One day I might have time to find this out: I'd wager, he's never outscored his final-round partner at Augusta when starting inside the top 20.

Poor bugger's hit -13 and still only came second..

I'm hoping Willets isn't going to regret not going for that birdie on 18th...Spieth has fck all to lose now...

Think Paul Lawrie shot 74 in 2012, but Westwood shot 68...could be wrong on that.

Willet is the Masters champ and that's brilliant... :oyea: :oyea: :oyea:

Brits first, second (joint) and fourth.

Then you should be thinking Willett I think.
Never in doubt after I posted this earlier. True Spieth's four birdies in a row thereafter was a tad worrying, but I knew Amen Corner was coming. Excellent showing by the Brits even if Lee could get it done on the last three. Indeed the Brits had all the low rounds of the day with Fitzpatrick. Exciting stuff.

However, his career in Ryder Cups has given me a lot of pleasure over the years.

I'd have to check, but I think Westwood has been in the top three in six Masters tournaments. That's one hell of a record.

That is the way you'd want to win your debut major. I'm sure for most of the round Willett didn't consider he had any chance of winning. Then suddenly he was in the lead, played a sublime 16th and probably just about didn't have enough time for any nerves to fully set in.

He looked nervy putting on the 18th but no damage done.

I still didn't think Spieth would stuff it up when he dropped shots at 10 and 11...

Have you seen Spieth's face when he's putting Willett's green jacket on him? He looks like thunder.

Check out Spieth's face at 2:27 here when Willett is doing his speech outside...i don't think that little joke went down too well!

Really nerveless/sensible play over those last three holes.

Can't blame him for just tapping his first putt on the last. Did the job.

Aye. But had he been leading or in with a shout for longer he may have felt nerves more and they may have shown. He played 15 holes probably thinking best he could do was second.

Nobody did I don't think. His putting is so good you always feel he will pull it out of the fire. 12 was just remarkable. A bit tincup-esque really....
