They won the toss and we bat first. Vince is the only one I don't know much about, but come on the lads... :oyea:

seconded!

Cook needs 30-odd to be the first english batsman to get to 10billion test match runs - or summat....

Cook is 83 runs away from becoming only the second man to record 5,000 Test runs in England and Wales (Gooch, 5,917).
Cook (13,229) needs 102 runs to leapfrog Ian Bell (13,331) into second spot for most runs for England in all formats.
Cook is 65 runs away from becoming England’s all-time highest run-scorer as Test captain (Atherton – 3815); he’s currently 249 shy from becoming only the eighth man ever to reach 4,000 as a Test skipper.

Well, that's another 16 nearer to whatever, but Cooke's out. 49-1.

the stat I was reaching for is this one...

Cook needs another 20 or so to be the youngest person ever and the first englishman to reach 10,000 test match runs...

(this is in all test matches - not just in England and Wales - not sure why you'd restrict yourself to England and Wales test match stats!)

It's not an unreasonable stat for tests played under the England and Wales Cricket Board (still known as the ECB). We don't play home tests in Scotland or Northern Ireland - so I suspect it's just a stat around home tests played in England and Wales...by the team known as England.

no - not unreasonable - but 10,000 sounds way better!! if I were Cook - that's the one I'd be selling! :-)

Bit hard to take two top batsmen out for ducks and El Capitan for 16. Need to buckle down and get cracking now.

171-5 at tea - that represents a decent recovery!

Aye, but looking like rain stopped play if it's anything like Farnworth. Just come back from walking the dog and it's pxssing it down.

Valiant effort from Hales gone for 86. But for him and Bairstow (now on 95) we could have had big problems with all the golden boys going for a song. 229-6 right now.
