Bleeding hell fire!
Ok I'm back on board with the Model S. Going to look at one next week for a test loan, with a possible import date of, wait for it... April 1st. (Not kidding: all fools Day, and a couple of days after Nevrrendingnobrexit!).

If, after the test drive, I buy it, it's coming from Canada! (or, rather, from a Canadian dealership ).Montreal Wanderer wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 3:03 pmGuess I quoted the wrong article. You will love it on your test drive!Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 12:58 pmBleeding hell fire!

Cheers, but, that's about a Renault!
I'd prefer to poke my eyes out with a burnt stick than buy a Renault, whether petrol, diesel, electric, or rubber band propelled. I think I can quite comfortably declare "Fxck Renault".

Electric mate Tesla maybe more expensive but it's still electric and can the company be relied on? They seem to be heading towards British Leyland territory.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 3:05 pmCheers, but, that's about a Renault!

You'll find it is quiet (no combustion), smooth (no jerky gear changes) and has great acceleration. The bells and whistles are what my generation might call "cool". Had it for over four hours now. You are correct on every aspect. But, I've very rapidly found the infrastructure to support it is very lacking in my area. I've found just one (two spaces) recharging point (at the Coop over the hill) within ten miles of my house. Plus, I've been given a quote of £4000 to plumb in a recharging point to my garage (it is a significant distance away from my house, apparently a cable extension will not cut the mustard, and Western Power would need to splice in a connexion from the mains). I need to get other quotes, but that's a significant overhead right at the start I hadn't factored in.
Jury's still out.

Re: Electric Cars.
The number of charging stations will rapidly increase with the passage of time - well they certainly have here. Tesla's superstations also sprout like mushrooms. However, it is probably important to have power in your garage. You could consider laying the power cable yourself and just asking the professional to hook it up both ends - I don't know what the regulations are in your part of the world.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 4:53 pmHad it for over four hours now. Re: Electric Cars.
I'd need to close the road, dig it up and retarmac it, at the same time as having an electrician who can put in a supply. Probably more expensive than the quote I've got from the distribution company.Montreal Wanderer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 6:55 pmThe number of charging stations will rapidly increase with the passage of time - well they certainly have here. Re: Electric Cars.
Still waiting for a closed quote from Western Power. Without a charging point in my garage I'd have to park a fully electric car two miles away overnight. Not feasible. I've had an indicative quote and replied to it... Still waiting. Meanwhile, Tesla can ship me a brand new model S and I don't care it's right hand drive. It'll all come together or fall apart in the next month

Hope it pans out for you, I fancy it would pay dividends.
For sure prices, availability and charging issues will improve but how long does one wait?
I might have an old Moulton somewhere you could use for the commute!

Cheers. However, my commuting days are over. Retired but not yet a pensioner. Unemployed but not seeking a job... made redundant, but had to fight them to give it me
