Maybe instead of having "many tools in the box" we had a few less tools on the road, we might get somewhere.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 6:14 pmThis happened literally at the end of our road today....Crazy...

But there's always some advocate for the tools, it's never their fault.

Wow, and the new Economic Editor on the block gets off to a false start...
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/business-48903058
So, how come, Mr Know It All Faisal Islam, that after 5 years of tracking annuity rates, none going above £2600 p/a (for a £50000 pot for a 63 yr old), have I just signed on for and sent off my application for a guaranteed £3552 (on a pot of £54,000) with "Just" through Hargreaves Lansdown???
Sometimes the amount of bollox being fed to the population really is a conspiracy.

Retired jockey killed by falling onto eco-friendly metal straw!
Why does anybody drink through a straw in the first place?
What's wrong with you? Why can't you drink out of a glass/cup/beaker like normal people?

When I first read that I had an image of horses settling down for the night on a bed of swarf.

Sorry, I think it's the phrase 'bed of swarf' which set me off.

I'm told on one hand that races don't exist. And then on the other I'm told that races are paid different amounts in this country.
It's amazing what shit you can make up.

When I heard that story I was stumped as to why, in general, folk that come to the UK from largely developed countries with a reasonable education system, on average, are paid more than folk arriving from poverty stricken states ruled by despots.
Beats the hell out of me.

I liked the closing quote to the story from the BBC. "The business community will be looking to address this disparity"Enoch wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 9:27 pmLost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 6:14 pmI'm told on one hand that races don't exist. I'll be surprised if I get an email tomorrow morning from my employer saying they're cutting the pay of all our Chinese and Indian employees.

Re: News stories that make you think, or not...
15 year old neice of Conservative MP and Environmental Campaigner has died after a quad bike accident.
The father of the child who died is the youngest child of a billionaire... The family has a history of being involved in environmental politics... The uncle being a co-founder of the Green Party UK... Yadda Yadda Yadda.
Well all I can say is that billionaires must have a very different view of environmental politics to me, I mean what the fxck is a fifteen year old doing tear-arsing around the countryside on a fxcking quad bike in the first place?

The Times, Fri Jul 12, 2019:
Quote: This week there were queues of visitors [on Ayers Rock] which is believed to have started forming about 550 million years ago.
We, BWFC, seriously need to recruit the writer of that sentence as head of our media team.

I've been thinking, never my strongest suit but I cannot for the life of me see where a bunch of confidential emails from a UK ambassador, containing nothing but his honest appraisal of a foreign politician's strengths and weaknesses, meets the standard of public interest.
If he had suggested assassination of said politician, confessed to thievery, solicited an illicit payment or other of a similar nature it would be clear to me. In this instance I fail to see where any public interest was served. In fact, quite the opposite.
There may not be a case for prosecution of the publisher but I fancy there's a very good case for giving the f*cker a wide berth. One wonders which master this particular publisher serves.

Imagine leaking something to Isabel fecking Oakeshott?! That's basically career suicide by cop.
